Flexible supercapacitors have attracted widespread attention from many researchers as a type of portable energy storage device. As a unique carbon material, graphene has shown great potential in supercapacitor electrodes, mainly due to its large theoretical specific surface area, high conductivity and chemical stability. Therefore, reasonable design of graphene-based hydrogels with low cost, high specific surface area, and excellent mechanical properties is of great significance for flexible and wearable energy storage device applications. Oxygen-doped activated carbon/graphene composite hydrogels have been fabricated using a one-step hydrothermal method. In the hybrid hydrogel, the activated carbon derived from chitosan with high specific surface area and oxygen-containing groups which were introduced by using a facile room-temperature oxidation strategy with HNO are assembled into the framework of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) to effectively prevent the restacking of rGO nanosheets and result in high specific surface area and high conductivity of the composite hydrogels, thereby leading to an excellent energy storage performance. The optimal sample displayed a high specific capacitance of 375.7 F g in 1 M HSO electrolyte at a current density of 1 A g. Furthermore, the assembled flexible supercapacitor showed an ideal cycling stability of 83% after 5000 charge/discharge cycles at 10 A g. The facile strategy developed in this work is of significance for the performance improvement of supercapacitor electrode materials.

Inorganic photochromic materials offer several advantages over organic compounds, including relatively inexpensive and higher thermal stability. However, tuning their color with the same component has remained a significant challenge. In this study, we demonstrate that the photochromic color of Cu-doped ZnS nanocrystals (NCs), which is initially pale yellow before light irradiation, can be tuned from gray to brown by adjusting the surface stoichiometry of Zn and S, which is controlled through the use of thiol and non-thiol ligands.

Context: The flow equations are derived for describing the two-dimensional hybrid molecular-scale and continuum flows in the very small surface separation with inhomogeneous solid surfaces and they can be applied for designing the specific bearings. The aim of the present study is to solve this specific flow problem in engineering with normal computational cost. The flow factor approach model describes the flow of the molecule layer adjacent to the solid surface and the Newtonian fluid model describes the flow of the intermediate continuum fluid.

Crystals with three-dimensional (3D) stereoscopic structures, characterized by diverse shapes, crystallographic planes, and morphologies, represent a significant advancement in catalysis. Differentiating and quantifying the catalytic activity of specific surface facets and sites at the single-particle level is essential for understanding and predicting catalytic performance. This study employs super-resolution radial fluctuations electrogenerated chemiluminescence microscopy (SRRF-ECLM) to achieve high-resolution mapping of electrocatalytic activity on individual 3D CuO crystals, including cubic, octahedral, and truncated octahedral structures.

Alba domain-containing proteins are ubiquitously found in archaea and eukaryotes. By binding to either DNA, RNA, or DNA:RNA hybrids, these proteins function in genome stabilization, chromatin organization, gene regulation, and/or translational modulation. In the malaria parasite , six Alba domain proteins PfAlba1-6 have been described, of which PfAlba1 has emerged as a "master regulator" of translation during parasite intra-erythrocytic development (IED).

The discrete π- stacks of specific lengths and orientation is crucial for understanding the impact of intermolecular interactions on optical or electronic properties of nanographdiynes. We designed and synthesized nanographdiynes modified with bulky rotatable asymmetric substituents. The peripheral substituents with different push-pull electronic properties can induce molecular dipoles perpendicular to nanoGDY π surface with different orientation.
