Eleven cases of Kaposi's angiosarcoma (ASK) were observed in Bamako over a 2 year period, representing one third of all malignant cutaneous tumours. There was a clear cut male prevalence. The average age of the patients was 32 years. The commonest sites of involvement were cutaneous, osseous, lymphatic and gastrointestinal. Special features of this series included prurigo preceding skin lesions, a single gastric localisation and involvement of the cavum. Rapid progression was observed in 3 cases, 2 of which had fatal outcomes. Two patients had multifocal disseminated disease at the outset. These cases were similar to ASK in patients with AIDS but our patients were not immunodepressed and LAV serology was negative. The results of chemotherapy were incomplete and transient. This series demonstrates the presence of acute, polyvisceral forms of ASK in Mali which may be classified as intermediary between the classical European or African ASK and the ASK observed in AIDS with positive serology in Central Africa.

Background: Multimorbidity is increasingly prevalent in lower- and middle-income countries. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has been inversely associated with multimorbidity but is understudied in lower- and middle-income countries. We report cardiovascular disease (CVD) multimorbidity in Haiti and its association with HRQOL.

Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is a human gammaherpesvirus associated with Kaposi's sarcoma and B cell malignancies. Like all herpesviruses, KSHV contains conserved envelope glycoproteins (gps) involved in virus binding, entry, assembly, and release from infected cells, which are also targets of the immune response. Due to the lack of a reproducible animal model of KSHV infection, the precise functions of the KSHV gps during infection are not completely known.

A 84-year old man who has a history of refractory Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) was treated with ALA-PDT combined with the dual 980-nm/1470-nm diode laser for 6 times every other week. Satisfactory result was noted without any unbearable adverse effects. The combination of the dual 980nm/1470nm diode laser and ALA-PDT may be an ideal strategy in treating local KS with good tolerance, especially in elder patients who can not tolerate radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

A 5-year-old male with xeroderma pigmentosum from Honduras presented with a rapidly growing mass on the left post-auricular neck, associated with left-sided hearing loss. MRI revealed a large mass with invasion of the external auditory canal, temporal bone, and metastasis to lymph nodes. Biopsy confirmed moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

Background: HIV infection has been associated with an increased risk of cancer development and Kaposi's sarcoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and invasive cervical cancers have been a manifestation of AIDS. With the advent of antiretroviral therapy, a collateral appearance of non-AIDS defining cancers (NADC) has been observed in HIV positive patients.
Methods: From January 1997 to December 2022, we performed an observational cross-sectional study, involving HIV-infected outpatients with both AIDS-defining cancers (ADC) and NADC, followed up in a tertiary hospital in Italy.
