The three-component cyclization of 3-polyfluoroalkyl-3-oxopropanoates and methyl ketones with ammonium acetate affords 6-organyl-4-(polyfluoroalkyl)pyridin-2(1)-ones (organyl is alkyl, aryl, or hetaryl). The synthesized pyridones were evaluated for antifungal, antibacterial, and analgesic activity.
Gilded wall paintings such as those in Petra-Jordan undergo deterioration processes such as delamination and loss of the gold layer. The aim of this work is to produce a functioning long-lasting adhesive that compensates for binder and gold loss while stabilising the gold layer. Polymer-stabilised gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as a conservation material for gilded heritage paintings (Nano Gold Gel (NGG)) were synthesised using two facile and affordable synthesis approaches.

We here report an efficient DNA-compatible furan-thiol-amine reaction for macrocyclization and late-stage amine transformation. This reaction, conducted under mild conditions, enables the facile cyclization of DNA-conjugated linear peptides into thiopyrrole-grafted macrocycles regardless of ring size or side-chain modification with good to excellent conversion yields. Additionally, this strategy was employed for the late-stage transformation of terminal amines, serving as critical intermediates in the construction of DNA-encoded peptide libraries.

High-entropy alloy (HEA) nanomaterials have emerged as promising candidates as oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst to overcome the existing issues of the sluggish reaction kinetics and poor stability. In this study, IrRuCoCuNi HEA three-dimensional-nanoframeworks (3DNF) are prepared using a scalable approach-the spray-drying technique combined with thermal decomposition reduction (SD-TDR). The optimized catalyst, IrRuCoCuNi, demonstrates superior OER performance, with an overpotential of 264 mV at 10 mA cm and a Tafel slope of 47 mV dec, considerably surpassing the catalytic activity of commercial IrO.
Sulfonium is an electrophilic and biocompatible group that is widely applied in synthetic chemistry on small molecules. However, there have been few developments of peptide or protein-based sulfonium tools. We recently reported sulfonium-mediated tryptophan crosslinking and developed NleSme2 (norleucine-dimethylsulfonium) peptides as dimethyllysine mimics that crosslink site-specific methyllysine readers.
Chiral metal clusters, due to their intriguing optical properties and unique resemblance in size to biomolecules, have attracted a lot of attention in recent times as potential candidates for application in bio-detection and therapy. While several strategies are reported for the synthesis of optically active clusters, a facile approach that enhances a multitude of properties has remained a challenge. Herein, we report a simple strategy wherein the use of a chiral cationic surfactant, during the synthesis of achiral clusters, leads to the fabrication of chiral assemblies possessing enhanced luminescence and optical activity.
