This is a case of a 59-year-old woman who presented with a 2-year history of heliotrope rash, Gottron's papules, shawl sign, V-neck sign, and muscle weakness. She was previously managed as a case of systemic lupus erythematosus and initially responded to unrecalled corticosteroids. She was admitted due to a 1-month progressively enlarging sacral mass, which eventually turned out to be an abscess. While the abscess was being treated, her autoimmune condition was worked up, and she was then managed as a case of clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis (CADM) with interstitial lung disease (ILD). She received corticosteroids and underwent the first cycle of cyclophosphamide infusion prior to discharge.

Background/purpose: Orthodontic movement is often necessary for periodontally compromised patients to enhance esthetics, function, and long-term occlusal stability. However, the impact of orthodontic treatment immediately following the regeneration of intrabony defects on periodontal healing remains a topic of debate. The objective of this long-term case series study was to test the hypothesis that orthodontic treatment performed immediately after regenerative procedures for periodontal intrabony defects did not adversely affect periodontal healing.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of intra-articular vancomycin powder in reducing prosthetic joint infections (PJIs) in primary hip and knee arthroplasty through a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Methods: A research in Pubmed, Embase and Cochrane databases was performed to identify randomized clinical trials comparing intra-articular vancomycin use to conventional antibiotic prophylaxis in total hip or knee arthroplasty patients, assessing postoperative infection rates, adverse drug reactions, and venous thrombotic events. Statistical analysis was performed using R (RStudio 2024.
