Background: Trigeminal neuralgia (TNa), or tic douloureux, is characterized by severe facial pain triggered by everyday activities. Introduction: Chemotherapy induced peripheral neurotoxicity (CIPN) is a long-lasting, or even permanent, late toxicity caused by largely used anticancer drugs. CIPN affects a growing population of cancer survivors and diminishes their quality of life since there is no curative/preventive treatment. Among several reasons for this unmet clinical need, there is an incomplete knowledge on mechanisms leading to CIPN.

Complementary therapies, including traditional Chinese herbal medicine, have been investigated as potential interventions in comatose patients. Chinese aromatic herbs, such as Borneolum (Bingpian), Moschus (Shexiang), and Acori tatarinowii rhizoma (Shichangpu), have long been believed to be "resuscitation with aromatics" based on traditional Chinese medicines theory.

Injuries to the nervous system present formidable challenges to scientists, clinicians, and patients. While regeneration within the central nervous system is minimal, peripheral nerves can regenerate, albeit with limitations. The regenerative mechanisms of the peripheral nervous system thus provide fertile ground for clinical and scientific advancement, and opportunities to learn fundamental lessons regarding nerve behavior in the context of regeneration, particularly the relationship of axons to their support cells and the extracellular matrix environment.

Background: Traumatic neuroma typically refers to a reactive process in the injured peripheral nerve, characterized by an excessive growth of axons, Schwann cells, and fibroblasts at the proximal end of the nerve after its interruption. The authors report a case of a traumatic neuroma in the cervical nerve root in a patient with no history of trauma.
Observations: The patient presented with sensation loss in the right-hand ulnar distribution, right flank around the T4-11 region, and right small toe along with motor power weakness over the right upper and lower extremity.
