Background: There are not many studies on the differences of ultrasound (US) findings between epidermal cysts (ECs) located in the trunk and those in the extremities.
Purpose: To compare the sonographic findings of ECs according to location in the body (trunk vs. extremity) and evaluated the feasibility of strain elastography (SE).
Material And Methods: This is a retrospective study of 76 patients with surgically confirmed non-ruptured EC who underwent US including SE. The US analyses included size, shape, ratio of depth to length (DLR), involvement of more than half the dermis, "submarine sign," and SE characters of each lesion. SE findings were assigned into four grades based on elasticity.
Results: The submarine sign was more significantly observed in ECs located in the trunk versus extremities ( value = 0.004 and 0.035, respectively). Truncal lesions were significantly more likely to possess an ovoid shape ( < 0.05) and exhibited higher DLR ( < 0.05). There were more cases with low elasticity according to SE (grade 3 or 4) compared to high elasticity (grade 1 or 2). However, we did not observe significant differences between the two locations ( > 0.05). More-than-half signs also did not exhibit a significant difference ( > 0.05).
Conclusion: The submarine sign, ovoid shape, and tall lesions (higher DLR) are common in the trunk. However, the degree of elasticity and number of more-than-half signs did not differ between the two groups.

This work develops a bioactive basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF)/heparin and FeO nanoparticles (NPs) trifunctionalized degradable construct with the potential of using as a vascular tissue engineering scaffold with the aim of improving vascular repair and regeneration therapy. The covalent modification of heparin onto the poly(lactic acid) (PLA)-gelatin (Gel)-FeO (PGF) scaffold improves the hydrophilicity of the scaffold. Furthermore, the electrostatic adsorption of bFGF on heparin allows for a more consistent and prolonged release of bFGF in situ, hence increasing the stability and effectiveness of bFGF around the surrounding vascular tissues.

Emerging contaminants (ECs) in aquatic environments have recently attracted the attention of researchers due to their ubiquitous occurrence and the potential risk they may pose to life. While advance analytical methods have improved global reporting in water matrices, additional information is needed to compile data on their occurrence, existing legislation, treatment technologies and associated human health risks. : Temperature-sensitive (TS) mutants of TP53 are thermally unstable, unfolded, and inactive at body temperature but can be refolded and reactivated at sub-physiological temperatures. TS TP53 may be amenable for functional rescue by hypothermia or structure-stabilizing drugs, and may retain low-level transcriptional activity at 37 °C. TP53 mutations are observed in 47% of all esophageal cancers (ECs) and 25% to 40% of gastric cancers (GCs).
