The action of certain insecticides belonging to the group of organophosphorous compounds (chlorophos, metaphos, etaphos, phosphamid, phosalone, carbophos, selecron) has been studied by the test of chromosome aberrations in Crepis capillaris cells. It is shown that these insecticides possess mutagenic activity in all phases of the cell cycle and are mutagens of the undelayed action.

Repetitive elements are the main components of many plant genomes and play a crucial role in the variation of genome size and structure, ultimately impacting species diversification and adaptation. Alstroemeriaceae exhibits species with large genomes, not attributed to polyploidy. In this study, we analysed the repetitive fraction of the genome of Bomarea edulis through low-coverage sequencing and in silico characterization, and compared it to the repeats of Alstroemeria longistaminea, a species from a sister genus that has been previously characterized.

Background: Bacterial toxins are emerging as promising hallmarks of colorectal cancer (CRC) pathogenesis. In particular, Cytotoxic Necrotizing Factor 1 (CNF1) from E. coli deserves special consideration due to the significantly higher prevalence of this toxin gene in CRC patients with respect to healthy subjects, and to the numerous tumor-promoting effects that have been ascribed to the toxin in vitro.

The accumulation of aniline in the natural environment poses a potential threat to crops, and thus, investigating the effects of aniline on plants holds practical implications for agricultural engineering and its affiliated industries. This study combined physiological, transcriptomic, and metabolomic methods to investigate the growth status and molecular-level response mechanisms of rice under stress from varying concentrations of aniline.
