Confused geographical structure of a population and mitonuclear discordance are shaped by a combination of rapid changes in population demographics and shifts in ecology. In this study, we generated a time-calibrated phylogeny of , an endemic Xizang alpine toad occurring in mountain streams on the Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet) Plateau (QTP). Based on three mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) genes, eight clades were assigned to three deeply divergent lineages. Analysis of nuclear DNA (nuDNA) genes revealed three distinct clusters without geographic structure, indicating significantly high rates of gene flow. Coalescent theory framework analysis (approximate Bayesian computation model DIYABC and Migrate-N) suggested that divergence of the main intraspecific clusters was the result of hybridization after secondary contact in the Holocene around 0.59 million years ago (Ma). The ratio of mtDNA (fixation index) to nuDNA was 2.3, thus failing to show male-biased dispersal. Geographic cline analysis showed that a wide hybrid zone was initially established in southwestern China, without significant reproductive isolation but with strong introgression in . , suggesting high hybrid fitness. Furthermore, mtDNA genes exhibited isolation by distance (IBD) while nuDNA genes exhibited significant isolation by environment (IBE). Results suggested that mitonuclear discordance may have initially been caused by geographic isolation, followed by precipitation-mediated hybridization, producing a wide hybrid zone and geographic structure confusion of nuDNA genes in . . This study indicated that complicated historical processes may have led to specific genetic patterns, with a specific climate factor facilitating gene flow in the system.

Deciphering how noncoding DNA determines gene expression is critical for decoding the functional genome. Understanding the transcription effects of noncoding genetic variants are still major unsolved problems, which is critical for downstream applications in human genetics and precision medicine. Here, we integrate regulatory-specific neural networks and tissue-specific gradient-boosting trees to build SVEN: a hybrid sequence-oriented architecture that can accurately predict tissue-specific gene expression level and quantify the tissue-specific transcriptomic impacts of structural variants across more than 350 tissues and cell lines.

Imaging flow cytometry allows image-activated cell sorting (IACS) with enhanced feature dimensions in cellular morphology, structure, and composition. However, existing IACS frameworks suffer from the challenges of 3D information loss and processing latency dilemma in real-time sorting operation. Herein, we establish a neuromorphic-enabled video-activated cell sorter (NEVACS) framework, designed to achieve high-dimensional spatiotemporal characterization content alongside high-throughput sorting of particles in wide field of view.

Introduction: People with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) experience a wide range of motor and non-motor symptoms that have a significant impact on their health and quality of life. Effective care management for PwPD involves monitoring symptoms at home, involving specialised multidisciplinary care providers and enhancing self-management skills. This study protocol describes the process evaluation within a randomised clinical trial to assess the implementation and its impact on patient health outcomes of ParkProReakt-a proactive, multidisciplinary, digitally supported care model for community-dwelling PwPD.

Chitosan, a biocompatible polysaccharide, finds a wide range of applications, inter alia as an antimicrobial agent, stabilizer of food products, cosmetics, and in the targeted delivery of drugs and stem cells. This work represents a comprehensive review of the properties of chitosan molecule and its aqueous solutions uniquely combining theoretical modeling and experimental results. The emphasis is on physicochemical aspects which were sparsely considered in previous reviews.

The world is moving towards the utilization of hydrogen vehicle technology because its advantages are uniformity in power production, more efficiency, and high durability when compared to fossil fuels. So, in this work, the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Stack (PEMFS) device is selected for producing the energy for the hydrogen vehicle. The merits of this fuel technology are the possibility of operating less source temperature, and more suitability for stationery and transportation applications.
