Pharyngoplasty represents one of the most widely performed surgical procedures for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the presence of palate-oropharyngeal collapse. The learning curve for pharyngoplasties is steep and success is conditional on the correct use of the sutures and the careful application of the surgical steps in a narrow surgical field. The use of synthetic models may be conveniently and safely employed for hands-on surgical practice in pharyngoplasties, especially when fresh frozen cadaveric specimens are not available. We present the "Pharyngolab", a new simulator for pharyngoplasties.

Background: To improve medical students' preclinical skills and enable them to quickly comprehend the procedure of posterior pharyngeal flap surgery, our teaching team developed a surgical simulator specifically for pharyngeal flap surgery.
Study Design: Thirteen undergraduate students and 8 first-year residents trained from March to May 2023 participated in simulated surgical training. Initially, multimedia were used to explain and demonstrate to them relevant anatomy, surgical principles, and procedural steps.

Methods: The Barbed Pharyngoplasty Simulator (BPS) was designed using diagnostic images of the facial mass and testing different materials to replicate the mucosal and bony tissues.

The purpose of this study was to develop a framework for 3D subject-specific computational models capable of simulating velopharyngeal biomechanics for anatomic changes that occur following pharyngoplasty and to gain insight into biomechanical factors that may lead to different speech/surgical outcomes. Patient-specific models for two, matched participants with differing speech/surgical outcomes were developed: one with a successful pharyngoplasty outcome and one with a failed pharyngoplasty outcome. Surgical scenarios were simulated to model pharyngoplasty location, identify LVP muscle biomechanics, and identify an optimal pharyngoplasty location for each participant.

Purpose: The application of 3D exoscopic technology is spreading worldwide, in several surgical scenarios. In this study, we present the first-time use of the exoscopic system (VITOM® and Versacrane™) in a cadaver simulation of transoral Snore Surgery.
Methods: All participants (n = 14) were asked to perform 2 exercises that simulate tasks required in Snore Surgery, they were then administered a questionnaire assessing their evaluation of the applied exoscopic technology.
