Objective: This study aimed to assess postoperative intracranial pressure in patients with clinical and/or radiological features of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) undergoing endoscopic endonasal surgery for primary cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak repair.
Methods: Data was prospectively collected from 9 patients diagnosed with CSF nasal leaks who underwent corrective endonasal surgery between January 1, 2021, and October 31, 2022. Postoperative intracranial pressure was measured via lumbar puncture at least one month after surgery.

Background: Cognition and its two critical proxies, socioeconomic status (SES) and educational attainment (EA), contribute substantially to human health and are heritable. Elucidating the genetic characteristics of SES/EA/Cognition not only helps to understand the innate individual differences in cognition, but also aids in unraveling the biological mechanisms of complex cognitive-related disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). Here, we explored the rare and common protein-coding variants impacting the comprehensive cognition phenotypic spectrum by leveraging large-scale exomes.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a heterogenous disease with a strong heritability. Genetic studies are of irreplaceable value in elucidating the mechanisms that underly this disease. The classical genome-wide association studies (GWAS) rely on ever-increasing sample sizes and utilize clinical AD diagnosis to investigate genetic risk.

Background: Early-onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD) manifests prior to the age of 65. Clinical presentation of EOAD is distinct from that of late-onset Alzheimer's disease, and is characterized as having a more aggressive disease course with greater heterogeneity. Recent publications from the Longitudinal Early-Onset Alzheimer's Disease Study (LEADS) described their sample as predominantly amnestic, though this phenotypic description was based solely on clinical judgment.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) was established a quarter of a century ago in 1999 to regulate the cost-effectiveness of pharmaceuticals (and other health technologies) for the NHS. Drawing on medical sociology theories of corporate bias, neoliberalism, pluralism/polycentricity and regulatory capture, the purpose of this article is to examine the applicability of those theories to NICE as a key regulatory agency in the UK health system. Based on approximately 7 years of documentary research, interviews with expert informants and observations of NICE-related meetings, this paper focuses particularly on NICE's relationship with the interests of the pharmaceutical industry compared with other stakeholder interests at the meso-organisational level.
