Flexible rhinolaryngoscopy is an underused procedure that can provide allergists-immunologists and other physicians with several benefits over existing imaging techniques. In this article, we highlight the many benefits of flexible rhinolaryngoscopy and expand on its safety, cost-effectiveness, and convenience. This article also covers current procedure techniques and assesses the most common indications and relevant clinical findings for which flexible rhinolaryngoscopy can be used to evaluate the nasopharyngeal tract. Videos for the clinician showing some of the most common findings are included.

Background: Flexible rhinolaryngoscopes are an important tool in otolaryngology. In recent years, single-use rhinolaryngoscopes (SURLs), which have been developed as an alternative to reusable scopes (RRLs), offer various advantages including less risk of contamination and elimination of the need for cleaning and reprocessing between procedures. This study aimed to compare procedure efficiency, organizational impact, and economic impact between SURLs and RRLs used for elective procedures conducted outside the otorhinolaryngology department in the hospital environment.

On admission, flexible rhinolaryngoscopy revealed a rapidly progressing oedema of the epiglottis and arytenoid region. The patient was immediately intubated and transferred to the intensive care unit.

Patients: From March 2016 to January 2020, 37 patients diagnosed as SCCUP before PET/CT were retrospectively reviewed. The diagnosis of SCCUP was made when an overt primary tumor location could not be found for histologically proven squamous cell cervical lymphadenopathy after a complete diagnostic workup which includes full medical history, physical examinations, flexible rhinolaryngoscopy and CT or MRI.

This case report describes a case of severe hemorrhagic tonsillitis in a nine month-old child who suffered significant amount of blood loss and was emergently taken to operating room for control of hemorrhage. The child was brought to emergency room by mom after noticing blood around child's mouth and nose and a subsequent episode of hematemesis having awoken from sleep. Initial impression was bleeding secondary to epistaxis however a thorough bedside otolaryngology exam including flexible rhinolaryngoscopy ruled this out.
