(GF), a species of , is widely distributed across Asia and has been used as an immunomodulatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-cancer agent. In the present study, the pharmacological activity of the GF extract against an ecotoxicological industrial chemical, bisphenol A (BPA) in normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDFs), was investigated. GF extract containing naringin, hesperidin, chlorogenic acid, and kaempferol showed an inhibitory effect on cell death and inflammation induced by BPA in the NHDFs. For the cell death caused by BPA, GF extract inhibited the production of reactive oxygen species responsible for the unique activation of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase. In addition, GF extract attenuated the expression of apoptosis-related proteins (Bax, Bcl-2, and cleaved caspase-3) and the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1β by the suppression of the redox-sensitive transcription factor, nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) in BPA-treated NHDFs. For the inflammation triggered by BPA, GF extract blocked the inflammasome-mediated caspase-1 activation that leads to the secretion of IL-1β protein. These results indicate that the GF extract is a functional antioxidant that prevents skin fibroblastic pyroptosis induced by BPA.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a tropical disease that can cause chronic lesions and leave life-long scars, leading to social stigmatization and psychological disorders. Using growth factors and immunomodulatory agents that could accelerate wound healing and reduce the scar is highly demanded. Epidermal growth factor (EGF) plays an essential role in wound healing.

Human Hair Follicle Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes Attenuate UVB-Induced Photoaging via the miR-125b-5p/TGF-β1/Smad Axis.

Cutaneous photoaging, induced by chronic exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, typically manifests as alterations in both the physical appearance and functional properties of the skin and may predispose individuals to cancer development. Recent studies have demonstrated the reparative potential of exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells in addressing skin damage, while specific reports highlight their efficacy in ameliorating skin photoaging. However, the precise role of exosomes derived from human hair follicle mesenchymal stem cells (HFMSC-Exos) in the context of cutaneous photoaging remains largely unexplored.

Valorization of poultry waste is a significant challenge addressed in this study, which aimed to produce cost-effective and sustainable peptones from poultry waste. The isolation process yielded the highly potent proteolytic B.subtilis isolate P6, identified through 16S rRNA gene sequencing to share 94% similarity with the B.

This study was designed to assess the effect of brentuximab vedotin on several breast cancer cell lines in terms of promoting apoptosis and managing cancer progression. Additionally, the study investigated the potential of repurposing this drug for new therapeutic reasons, beyond its original indications. The study evaluates the cytotoxic effects of Brentuximab vedotin across five cell lines: normal human skin fibroblasts (HSF), three breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231, and T-47D), and histiocytic lymphoma (U-937).

Hypertrophic scar (HS) is a disease with excessive skin fibrosis and collagen disorder, which is generally caused by abnormal wound repair process after burn and trauma. Although intralesional injection of 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu) has been used in clinical treatment of HS, the patients' compliance of injection treatment is poor. In this study, a double-layer dissolution microneedle (MN) containing asiaticoside (AS) and 5-Fu was designed for the treatment of HS.
