The and isoforms play important roles in the uptake and transport of nitrate during rice growth. However, it is unclear which cis-acting element controls the transcription of into these specific isoforms. In this study, we used a yeast one-hybrid assay to obtain the TATA-box binding protein OsTBP2.1, which binds to the TATA-box of , and verified its important role through transient expression and RNA-seq. We found that the TATA-box of mutants and binding protein OsTBP2.1 together increased the transcription ratio of to . The overexpression of promoted nitrogen uptake and increased rice yield compared with the wild-type; however, the T-DNA mutant lines exhibited the opposite trend. Detailed analyses demonstrated that the TATA-box was the key cis-regulatory element for to be transcribed into and . Additionally, this key cis-regulatory element, together with the binding protein OsTBP2.1, promoted the development of rice and increased grain yield.

A new gene coding for an iron-containing enzyme was identified in the genome of Acinetobacter radioresistens. Bioinformatics analysis allowed the assignment of the protein to DyP peroxidases, due to the presence of conserved residues involved in heme binding and catalysis. Moreover, Ar-DyP is located in an operon coding also for other enzymes involved in iron uptake and regulation.

Yes-associated protein (YAP), a focal point of current biological research, is involved in regulating various life processes. In this report, live-cell fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) imaging was employed to unravel the YAP complexes in MCF-7 cells. Fluorescence imaging of living cells co-expressing CFP (cyan fluorescent protein)-YAP and YFP (yellow fluorescent protein)-LATS1 (large tumor suppressor 1) plasmids revealed that YAP promoted LATS1 oligomerization around mitochondria.

Recently, microsporidiosis caused by a microsporidian [Ecytonucleospora (Enterocytozoon) hepatopenaei, EHP] has been found to seriously impact the global shrimp industry. The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effects of fumaric acid (FA) in EHP-infected Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei). In the first 2 groups, non-EHP-infected shrimp were fed FA-supplemented (10 g/kg diet) or normal feed (CM+ and CM-, respectively).

Troponin C (TnC) is a calcium-binding subunit of the troponin complex that regulates muscle contraction in animals. However, the physiological roles of TnC, especially in insect development and reproduction, remain largely unknown. We identified seven TnC genes encoding four EF-hand motif protein in the rice pest, the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens.

Evidence suggests that bats are important hosts of filoviruses, yet the specific species involved remain largely unidentified. Niemann-Pick C1 (NPC1) is an essential entry receptor, with amino acid variations influencing viral susceptibility and species-specific tropism. Herein, we conducted combinatorial binding studies with seven filovirus glycoproteins (GPs) and NPC1 orthologs from 81 bat species.
