The aim of this study is to create a database for the development, evaluation and objective comparison of algorithms for P wave detection in ECG signals.rnoniversity ofechnology ECG Signalataase with Annotations ofWave (BUT PDB) is an ECG signal database with marked peaks of P waves annotated by ECG experts. Currently, there are only a few databases of pathological ECG signals with P-wave annotations, and some are incorrect. The pathological ECG signals used in this work were selected from three existing databases of ECG signals: MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database, MIT-BIH Supraventricular Arrhythmia Database and Long Term AF Database. The P-wave positions were manually annotated by two ECG experts in all selected signals. The final BUT PDB composed of selected signals consists of 50 two-minute, two-lead pathological ECG signal records with annotated P waves. Each record also contains a description of the diagnosis (pathology) present in the selected part of the record and information about positions and types of QRS complexes. The BUT PDB is created for developing new, more accurate and robust methods for P wave detection. These algorithms will be used in medical practice and will help cardiologists to evaluate ECG records, establish diagnoses and save time.

Naxos disease is a rare autosomal recessive condition combining arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, woolly hair, and palmoplantar keratoderma. The first identified causative variant was in the gene encoding the desmosomal protein plakoglobin. Naxos disease exhibits fibro-fatty myocardial replacement with immunohistological abnormalities in cardiac protein and signaling pathways, highlighting the role of inflammation and potential anti-inflammatory treatments.

A young man in his 30s presented to us with multiple episodes of syncope and exertional dyspnoea for the last 2 weeks. He was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the lower one-third of the oesophagus in 2021 for which he was treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, followed by McKeown oesophagectomy. At 2-year follow-up, he had developed a soft tissue swelling in the scalp, which was diagnosed as a tumour recurrence and radiotherapy was initiated.

This review explores the therapeutic potential of the stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157 in addressing electrolyte imbalances, specifically hyperkalemia, hypokalemia, hypermagnesemia, and hyperlithemia. In hyperkalemia, BPC 157 demonstrated a comprehensive counteractive effect against KCl overdose (intraperitoneally, intragastrically, and in vitro), effectively mitigating symptoms such as muscular weakness, hypertension, sphincter dysfunction, arrhythmias, and lethality. It also counteracted the adverse effects of succinylcholine and magnesium overdose, including systemic muscle paralysis, arrhythmias, and hyperkalemia.

A 3-year-old spayed male mixed-breed Labrador presented to the Emergency and Critical Care Unit with lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, a recent history of presyncopal episodes, and severe exercise intolerance. On admission, the patient had bradycardia, low blood pressure, and mild abdominal pain. Serum biochemistry information revealed severe hyperkalemia, hyponatremia, hypoglycemia, and mildly increased liver and kidney parameters.

Background: High-intensity endurance training induces specific cardiac adaptations, often observed through electrocardiographic (ECG) changes. This study investigated the prevalence of ECG abnormalities in national-level Australian triathletes compared to sedentary controls.
Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted involving 22 triathletes and 7 sedentary controls.
