Guar gum is a food additive that acts as a thickening agent. Although the relationship between guar gum and occupational rhinitis/asthma has already been established, only very few cases of anaphylaxis were associated with guar gum ingestion. We present two examples of anaphylaxis induced by guar gum. Both cases were successfully treated with adrenaline. Moreover, serum-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) with the culprit agent was detected in blood samples. To the best of our knowledge, here we present the first case of class 6 guar gum-specific IgE-positive anaphylaxis. This report aims to raise awareness of rare food additive allergies such as guar gum.

Pathogen invasion and persistent inflammatory storms caused by bacterial infections are the main challenges to the healing of infected wounds. Herein, this study proposed a pH-responsive polysaccharide hydrogel dressing (CG-HA) composed of cationic guar gum (CG) and hyaluronic acid (HA). Additionally, Zn and ferulic acid (FA)/β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) inclusion complexes (FA/β-CD) were co-introduced into the CG-HA hydrogel to form the desired FA/β-CD@CG-HA-Zn hydrogel.

Brucite (Mg(OH)) is a typical precipitate in the mining industry that adversely affects processes such as flotation and thickening. Gaining insights into the physicochemical properties of this mineral is critical for developing strategies to mitigate these challenges and improve operational efficiency. Additionally, incorporating natural-origin polymers aligns with the shift toward more sustainable mining practices.

Introduction: The rapid progress in polymer science has designed innovative materials for biomedical applications. In the case of drug design, for each new therapeutic agent, a drug delivery system (DDS) is required to improve its pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters. Therefore, significant research has been carried out to develop drug delivery (DD) carriers for these new therapeutic agents.

The interactions between cellulose nanocrystals and six different polymers (three anionic, two non-ionic, and one cationic) were investigated using rheological measurements of aqueous solutions of nanocrystals and polymers. The experimental viscosity data could be described adequately by a power-law model. The variations in power-law parameters (consistency index and flow behavior index) with concentrations of nanocrystals and polymers were determined for different combinations of nanocrystals and polymers.

Guar gum based bacterial cellulose (GG-BC) was generated from the soy sauce residue hydrolysate by in-situ fermentation, and its structure and performance were learned systematically. The GG concentration of 0.2 % was most suitable for GG-BC production with the yield of 1.
