Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are a new class of solvents with wider potential window than that of water and high electrochemical stability, making them potential candidates for a wide range of electrochemical systems. However, due to the hygroscopic nature of DESs, the presence of latent water is unavoidable. Therefore, understanding the interfacial structure and the electrosorption and distribution of residual water at the electrified interface is of great importance for the use of these solvents in electrochemical systems. Using atomistic molecular dynamics, we explore the electrosorption and distribution of different amounts of water in 1 : 2 choline chloride-urea DES (Reline) at the electrified graphene interface. We found that both the water distribution and the interfacial structure are sensitive to the electrification of the graphene electrode. As a result, it is found that for moderately charged electrodes, water shows a preferential asymmetric adsorption in the vicinity of the positively charged electrode, partly due to strong intermolecular interactions with anions through hydrogen bonds. In contrast, for highly charged electrodes, water adsorbs at both electrodes due to a strongly enhanced external electrostatic interaction between the electrodes and the water dipoles.

Exploring P-(Fe,V)-Codoped Metastable-Phase β-NiMoO for Improving the Performance of Overall Water Splitting.

It is especially essential to develop high-performance and low-cost nonprecious metal catalysts for large-scale hydrogen production. A large number of electrochemical catalysts composited by transition metal centers has been reported; however, it is still a great challenge to design and manipulate target electrocatalysts to realize high overall water-splitting activity at the atomic level. Herein, we develop totally new P-(Fe,V)-codoped metastable-phase β-NiMoO.

Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of Georgia, Griffin, Georgia, United States of America.

Previous studies have indicated the great performance of electrooxidation (EO) to mineralize per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in water, but different anions presented in wastewater may affect the implementation of EO treatment in field applications. This study invetigated EO treatment of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), two representative perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs), using porous Magnéli phase titanium suboxide anodes in electrolyte solutions with different anions present, including NO3-, SO42-, CO32- and PO43-. The experiment results indicate that CO32- enhanced PFAS degradation, while NO3- suppressed the degradation reactions with its concentration higher than 10 mM.

Bimetallic metal-organic frameworks as electrode modifiers for enhanced electrochemical sensing of chloramphenicol.

Mikrochim Acta

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Chemical Materials and Devices of Ministry of Education, College of Optoelectronic Materials and Technology, Jianghan University, Wuhan, 430056, China.

An electrochemical sensor is presented for the detection of the chloramphenicol (CAP) based on a bimetallic MIL-101(Fe/Co) MOF electrocatalyst. The MIL-101(Fe/Co) was prepared by utilizing mixed-valence Fe (III) and Co (II) as metal nodes and terephthalic acid as ligands with a simple hydrothermal method and characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, and XPS. Electrochemical measurements such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) showed that bimetallic MIL-101(Fe/Co) had the faster electron transfer, larger electroactive area, and higher electrocatalytic activity compared with  their monometallic counterparts due to the strong synergistic effect between bimetals.

Purpose: To compare remineralisation efficacy between silver diamine fluoride (SDF) combined with potassium iodide (KI) and sodium fluoride (NaF) varnish using hydroxyapatite (HAP) artificial white spot lesions (AWSLs) demineralisation model.

Materials And Methods: A total of 25 HAP disks was randomly divided into five groups (n = 5): baseline, AWSLs, deionized water (DW), SDF-KI or F-varnish. After AWSLs were developed, the specimen was treated with either deionized water, SDF-KI or F-varnish.

In this work, we successfully prepared four POM-based organic-inorganic hybrids, namely, [(CHN)(CHN)][PMoO] (1), [(CHN)(CHN)][PMoO] (2), [(CHN)][PMoO]·4HO (3), and [(CHN)][PMoO] (4) (where CHN = pyridine, CHN = pyrazine, CHN = 2,7-diamino-1,3,4,6,8,9-hexaazaspiro[4.4] nonane, and CHN = 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole), using a hydrothermal method. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited a lamellar three-dimensional structure.
