2D metal oxides (2DMOs) have drawn intensive interest in the past few years owing to their rich surface chemistry and unique electronic structures. Striving for large-scale and high-quality novel 2DMOs is of great significance for developing future nano-enabled technologies. In this work, we demonstrate for the first time controllable growth of highly crystalline 2D ultrathin GaO single crystals on liquid Ga by the chemical vapor deposition approach. With the introduction of oxygen into the growth process, large-area hexagonal α-GaO crystals with a uniform size distribution have been produced. At high temperature, fast diffusion of oxygen atoms onto the liquid surface facilitates reaction with Ga and thus leads to formation of 2D ultrathin crystals. By precisely controlling the amount of oxygen, the vertical growth of the GaO single crystal has been realized. Furthermore, phase engineering can be achieved and thus 2D β-GaO crystals were also prepared by precisely tuning the growth temperature. The controlled growth of 2D GaO crystals offers an applicable avenue for fabrication of other 2D metal oxides and can further open up possibilities for future electronics.

Background: Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder affecting multiple organ systems, with a prevalence of 1:6,760-1:13,520 live births in Germany. On the molecular level, TSC is caused by heterozygous loss-of-function variants in either of the genes TSC1 or TSC2, encoding the Tuberin-Hamartin complex, which acts as a critical upstream suppressor of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a key signaling pathway controlling cellular growth and metabolism. Despite the therapeutic success of mTOR inhibition in treating TSC-associated manifestations, studies with mTOR inhibitors in children with TSC above two years of age have failed to demonstrate beneficial effects on disease-related neuropsychological deficits.

Despite a varied selection of available trauma-focused evidence-based psychotherapies (TF-EBPs) for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), few veterans receive a full course of an evidence-based treatment. A better understanding of and alignment with veterans' PTSD treatment goals could be one way to improve treatment engagement and adherence, consistent with veteran-oriented care within the U.S.

For large, open-air lithic cultural heritage, colonization is an inevitable process. This study examines the dual impact of colonization on the Leshan Giant Buddha's sandstone monuments, focusing on both biodeterioration and protection. Over three years, we conducted field surveys and monitored biocrusts (bryophytes, lichens, and biofilms) on these monuments, observing significant biodeterioration primarily due to mechanical exfoliation and acid corrosion.

Endophytes can be a promising alternative for sustainable agronomic practices. In this study, we report for the first time a root-colonizing fungal strain (Sl27) of the genus Leptobacillium as a tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) endophyte, with no clear homology to any known species. Performed analyses and assays, including morphological and physiological characterization of the fungal isolate, provided insights into the ecological niche and potential agronomical and industrial applications of the fungal isolate.

De-regulated protein expression contributes to tumor growth and progression in medulloblastoma (MB), the most common malignant brain tumor in children. MB is associated with impaired differentiation of specific neural progenitors, suggesting that the deregulation of proteins involved in neural physiology could contribute to the transformed phenotype in MB. Calsynthenin 1 (CLSTN1) is a neuronal protein involved in cell-cell interaction, vesicle trafficking, and synaptic signaling.
