With the development of portable and wearable devices, flexible displays have attracted extensive interest and have become increasingly important in our daily life. In this study, a flexible electrowetting display (FEWD) was proposed and fabricated. To prevent a short circuit between the top and bottom electrodes, various types of support pillars were fabricated on the top substrates through a photolithography technique. The FEWD was measured under positive and negative bending conditions, with the applied voltage increasing from 0 to 24 V. The aperture ratio and response time were investigated to better evaluate and understand the performance of the FEWD. The mechanical properties of the support pillars and the FEWD were evaluated by means of compression force and cyclic bending tests, respectively. The results showed that the FEWD operated properly at 24 V under a bending curvature of 0.25 cm, achieving the largest aperture ratio of 54.96%. Moreover, the oil movement could be influenced by the support pillars in the pixel. With the advantages of both optical performance and flexibility, an FEWD with support pillars is a novel item for future development of reflective transparent displays and provides a promising strategy for developing flexible, wearable, and visible devices.

Distance and remote simulation have emerged as vital tools in modern surgical education, offering solutions to challenges such as limited operating hours, growing clinical demands, and the need for consistent, high-quality training. This review examines the benefits, limitations, and strategies for implementing sustainable distance simulation, structured around 3 foundational pillars: (1) effective hardware and infrastructure, including simulators and realistic scenarios that enable trainees to develop essential skills; (2) validated training programs grounded in educational theory with a clear focus on skill transfer and predictive validity; and (3) timely access to effective feedback. Distance simulation permits adaptable, scalable training environments, but the addition of remote and deferred feedback has further broadened its impact, helping to overcome the challenges posed by faculty availability and clinician time constraints.

Georgina Mace proposed bending the curve of biodiversity loss as a fitting ambition for the Convention on Biological Diversity. The new Global Biodiversity Monitoring Framework (GBMF) may increase the chances of meeting the goals and targets in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), which requires bending the curve. To meet the outcome goals of KMGBF, the GBMF should support adaptive policy responses to the state of biodiversity, which in turn requires a 'satnav' for nature.

Strip filling mining significantly improves coal recovery rates and fosters sustainable development in the coal industry. To investigate the overburden movement patterns of strip filling mining, a mine in Tuokexun was selected as the study site. The stability of the composite structure in upward mining faces, as well as the stress distribution and fracture characteristics of the overburden at different stages of strip filling mining, were analyzed using theoretical methods, numerical simulations, and similarity experiments.

This study analyses the influence of environmental taxes, renewable energy, economic growth, green innovation and financial development on environmental sustainability in G-20 countries from 1990 to 2022. To this end, the Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR) was applied to obtain the reference results, complemented with Fully Modified Ordinary Least Square (FMOLS) and Driscoll-Kraay techniques to perform a comparative analysis. Our results confirm a negative relationship between environmental taxes and sustainability in all quantiles, although this relationship is only significant in the middle and upper quantiles.
