Background:  Circulating tumor cells and clusters (CTC) from soft-tissue sarcoma (STS) that become entrapped in the lung can form micro-metastases and lead to pulmonary metastatic disease. Many patients with localized high-risk STS later develop metastases. Radiation is effective at reducing local recurrence by eradicating microscopic infiltration and satellites in the reactive zone surrounding the primary tumor.

Hemorrhagic shock and reperfusion (HSR) is the main cause of death following trauma. Cognitive impairment may persist after successful resuscitation from hemorrhagic shock, but the mechanisms remain elusive. This study demonstrated the presence of ferroptosis in an in vitro model of oxygen-glucose deprivation and reoxygenation (OGD/R) in HT22 neurons, and also in a murine model of HSR using 3-month-old C57BL/6 mice.

Traumatic brain injury is widely viewed as a risk factor for dementia, but the biological mechanisms underlying this association are still unclear. In previous studies, traumatic brain injury has been associated with the hallmark pathologies of Alzheimer's disease, i.e.

Blue phosphorene, a two-dimensional, hexagonal-structured, semiconducting phosphorus, has gained attention as it is considered easier to synthesize on metal surfaces than its allotrope, black phosphorene. Recent studies report different structures of phosphorene, for example, on Cu(111), but the underlying mechanisms of their formation are not known. Here, using a combination of in situ ultrahigh vacuum low-energy electron microscopy and in vacuo scanning tunneling microscopy, we determine the time evolution of the surface structure and morphology during the deposition of phosphorus on single-crystalline Cu(111).

Reconsideration of the P-clusters in VFe proteins using the bond-valence method: towards their electron transfer and protonation.

Acta Crystallogr D Struct Biol

State Key Laboratory for Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Xiamen University, Xiamen 361005, People's Republic of China.

P-clusters have been statistically analysed using the bond-valence sum (BVS) method together with weighting schemes. The crystallographic data come from the VFe proteins deposited in the Protein Data Bank (PDB) with high resolutions of better than 1.35 Å.
