We demonstrated a high-quality black phosphorus (BP) crystal fabricated a modified electrochemical delamination exfoliation process. Employing the nonlinear transmittance method and Z-scan technique, the nonlinear optical properties of BP were characterized. Based on the saturable absorber (SA) of BP, we designed a passively Q-switched ytterbium (Yb)-doped fiber laser operating at 1.06 μm. Additionally, the pulse laser could operate stably for at least 69 days. These experimental results indicate that the modified BP is an ultra-stable and promising optical modulation material for ultrashort pulse generation in Yb-doped fiber lasers.

Background: Abelacimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that binds to the inactive form of factor XI and blocks its activation. The safety of abelacimab as compared with a direct oral anticoagulant in patients with atrial fibrillation is unknown.
Methods: Patients with atrial fibrillation and a moderate-to-high risk of stroke were randomly assigned, in a 1:1:1 ratio, to receive subcutaneous injection of abelacimab (150 mg or 90 mg once monthly) administered in a blinded fashion or oral rivaroxaban (20 mg once daily) administered in an open-label fashion.

Electroporation and electrofusion are efficient methods, which have been widely used in different areas of biotechnology and medicine. Pulse strength and width, as an external condition, play an important role in the process of these methods. However, comparatively little work has been done to explore the effects of pulsed electric field parameters on electroporation and electrofusion.

Purpose: Ventricular-arterial coupling (VAC) is a crucial concept in cardiovascular physiology, representing the dynamic interaction between the left ventricle and the arterial system. This comprehensive literature review explores the changes in VAC with aging and various cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).
Materials And Methods: This literature review covers studies on changes in VAC with age and common CVDs such as arterial hypertension, atrial fibrillation, heart failure with preserved and reduced ejection fraction and aortic stenosis.

Background: Recent research has revealed the potential value of machine learning (ML) models in improving prognostic prediction for patients with trauma. ML can enhance predictions and identify which factors contribute the most to posttraumatic mortality. However, no studies have explored the risk factors, complications, and risk prediction of preoperative and postoperative traumatic coagulopathy (PPTIC) in patients with trauma.

Background: Patients with prior history of chest or mediastinal radiation are deemed high risk for surgical AVR. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has emerged as a promising alternative for these patients, however, this patient population was underrepresented in prior TAVR trials.
Aims: To compare the outcomes of TAVR in patients with versus without a history of prior chest or mediastinal radiation.
