Antibiotic-resistant infection of poultry causes significant economic losses. Extended spectrum β lactamases (ESBL) producing was inoculated in a broiler, Rhode Island Red and Haringhata Black birds orally at 56×10 c.f.u. mL for induction of diarrhoea. Pharmacokinetics of ceftriaxone-tazobactam combination (8:1) was studied following a single intramuscular injection at 28.125 mg kg and the combination was administered twice daily to treat such infection. Plasma concentration of both ceftriaxone persisted up to 8 h in experimental birds and maintained an approximate ratio of 8:1 with tazobactam for a period of 2 h, 0.25 h and 0.75 h, respectively in a broiler, Rhode Island Red and Haringhata Black birds. The was significantly lower in all experimental birds compared to healthy birds. Efficacy study was conducted in diarrhoeic birds by administration of ceftriaxone-tazobactam combination at 28.125 mg kg body weight twice daily intramuscularly for three days which caused an increase in specific antibody titre in the broiler on 5 day and in Rhode Island Red birds 10 day. However, Haringhata black birds were inherently showed more resistance towards the infection. The combination of ceftriaxone and tazobactam in the ratio of 8:1 can be an effective treatment to combat ESBL producing infections.

Background This study was designed to evaluate the current in vitro susceptibility of clinical isolates to broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotics. Methodology Bacterial isolates, cultured from 180 non-repetitive clinical samples between April and November 2022 at three hospitals in India, were used to evaluate the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotics using the Epsilometer test (E-test) method. Test antibiotics were ceftriaxone and ceftriaxone in combination with β-lactamase inhibitors (BLIs) sulbactam and tazobactam.

Background: It is well documented that inappropriate use of antimicrobials is the major driver of antimicrobial resistance. To combat this, antibiotic stewardship has been demonstrated to reduce antibiotic usage, decrease the prevalence of resistance, lead to significant economic gains and better patients' outcomes. In Nigeria, antimicrobial guidelines for critically ill patients in intensive care units (ICUs), with infections are scarce.

Objectives: To investigate the value of dynamic monitoring of serum procalcitonin (PCT) in anti-infective therapy of patients with acute stroke.

Methods: This is a case control retrospective study of acute stroke patients conducted from July 2016 to October 2018, in the Department of Neurology, Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University, who who reached within twenty four hours. They, were selected as the study subjects who were divided into infection group and non-infection group according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Introduction: Nosocomial pneumonia remains an important cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Surveillance programs play an important role in the identification of common etiologic agents and local patterns of antimicrobial resistance.

Methodology: In this study we determined the frequency and antimicrobial susceptibility of pathogens isolated from patients with nosocomial pneumonia during 2009 to 2011.
