Secondary metabolites of bacteria are regulatory molecules that act as "info-chemicals" that control some metabolic processes in the cells of microorganisms. These molecules provide the function of bacteria communication in microbial communities. As primary producers of organic matter in the biosphere, microalgae play a central ecological role in various ecosystems. Photosynthesis is a central process in microalgae cells, and it is exposed to various biotic and abiotic factors. Various secondary metabolites of bacteria confer a noticeable regulatory effect on photosynthesis in microalgae cells. The main purpose of this review is to highlight recent experimental results that demonstrate the impact of several types of common bacterial metabolites (volatile organic compounds, non-protein amino acids, and peptides) on photosynthetic activity in cells of microalgae. The use of these molecules as herbicides can be of great importance both for practical applications and for basic research.

Eutrophication and hypereutrophication in lakes foster harmful blue-green algal blooms, which pose a significant threat to the ecological health of freshwater reservoirs. This study investigated the effectiveness of the bio-flocculation approach using the fungus strain BGF4A1 to remove these harmful blooms, specifically targeting cyanobacterial species like PCC-7914. Key flocculation parameters, cyanobacterial concentrations, adsorption kinetics, and pellet morphology were explored in this research.

A series of novel cationic modified actinia-shaped composite coagulant (AMS-C), with similar tentacle length and distribution but different charge density (CD), was successfully designed and fabricated by combination of a cationic graft starch and attapulgite (ATP). Magnetic microrobots are significant platforms for targeted drug delivery, among which sperm-inspired types have attracted much attention due to their flexible undulation. However, mass production of sperm-like soft magnetic microrobots with high-speed propulsion is still challenging due to the need of more reasonable structure design and facile fabrication. In this work, microalgae-based zinc oxide nanoparticles loaded with electrospun polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/sodium alginate (SA) nanofibers were fabricated by electro-spinner. PVA/SA fibrous mats were crosslinked by citric acid, which enhanced their thermal stability and swelling behavior. Green-synthesized ZnO NPs were laboratory synthesized and characterized by FTIR, XRD, EDX, SEM, TEM and TGA analyses.
