Introduction: Appropriate wound closure with appropriate suture material is of prime significance in surgery. Hence, we aim to assess the efficiency of ISO amyl 2-cyanoacrylate glue in closure of extraoral surgical wound when compared with other suture materials like polypropylene (prolene), nylon (ethilon) and silk (mersilk).

Materials And Methods: We conducted a prospective clinical observational study in which 60 subjects were divided into two groups: suture group and cyanoacrylate group. They were compared for wound healing complications on days 1, 3, 7, 12, and at 1 month postoperatively with < 0.05 as significant.

Results: We observed that there was no statistically significant difference between the groups for the various parameters of the wound healing for the different time periods except that color acceptability and visibility were significantly superior in the cyanoacrylate group.

Conclusion: Iso amyl 2-cyanoacrylate can be used successfully in the suture closure with excellent patient satisfaction and can be considered as an alternative to the routine suture materials.

Interphase ion transfer is ubiquitous in chemistry, physics, biology, and various engineering sciences. Ion transfer from the aqueous phase to the oil phase or vice versa is a complex chemical phenomenon, and its fundamental understanding is crucial for efficient and economical mass transfer. This ion transfer is much more complex for radionuclide metal ions.

The complexation behavior of tri--amyl phosphate (TiAP) and tri--butyl phosphate (TBP) ligands with U(VI), Th(IV), and Nd(III) was investigated using density functional theory (DFT). Quantum chemical calculations yielded identical coordination geometries for TBP and TiAP complexes. Calculated complexation energies indicated a preferential extraction of U(VI) followed by Th(IV) over Nd(III), aligning with solvent extraction experiments conducted in the cross-current mode.

Malodorants comprise notoriously smelling mercaptans and might be applied for crowd control. Because exposure to malodorants may lead to irritation of the respiratory system, choking, and coma, bioanalytical verification of poisoning might be required in a medical and forensic context. We herein present the detection and identification of novel biomarkers of exposure to ethyl mercaptan, n-butyl mercaptan, tert-butyl mercaptan, and iso-amyl mercaptan.

Malodorants are mixtures containing mercaptans, which trigger the flight instinct upon exposure and might thus be deployed in military and civilian defense scenarios. Exposure to mercaptans might lead to unconsciousness, thus representing a possible threat for health. Therefore, we developed and validated a bioanalytical procedure for the simultaneous detection and identification of corresponding biomarkers for the verification of exposure to mercaptans.

Background In order to maintain the surgery site's shape, functionality, and aesthetics, closure of the wound is essential for intra-oral and general surgical procedures. Wound closure speeds up healing by reducing the buildup of inflammatory cells. For a wound to heal well, the incision must be precise, the tissue must be handled delicately, the wound must be precisely repositioned, and the closure material must have optimum functional properties and be sterile.
