Mature teratomas have been found to be the most common type of extragonadal primary germ cell tumors found in the anterior mediastinum. Over the past decade, several reports have been published using minimally invasive approaches to remove mediastinal masses. Of these publications, only one reported a teratoma excision from the anterior mediastinum via the Da Vinci Robot. Additionally, there have been few reports regarding teratomas infected with bacteria. This is a case of a 37-year-old man with an incidentally identified infected mature teratoma in the anterior mediastinum that was removed with the Da Vinci Robotic System.

Ectopic parathyroid glands result from abnormal migration during development. If not detected promptly, they can lead to persistent or recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT). Inferior parathyroid glands are typically located in the anterior mediastinum, while superior parathyroid glands are often near the tracheoesophageal groove, both of which contribute to pHPT.

Aim: This study had two aims: to analyze surgical patients with mediastinal cysts and masses according to clinical, histopathological, and surgical types; and compare the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on these cases.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 132 patients who had undergone surgical intervention for mediastinal cysts and masses. Demographic, clinical, and histopathologic data were recorded.
