Fluorescence nanoscopy methods based on the RESOLFT principle, such as beam-scanning STED nanoscopy, require the co-alignment of optical beams for molecular state (on/off) switching and fluorescence excitation. The complexity and stability of the beam alignment can be drastically simplified and improved by using a single-mode fibre as the sole light source for all required laser beams. This in turn then requires a chromatic optical element for shaping the off-switching beam into a focal-plane donut while simultaneously leaving the focal intensity distributions at other wavelengths shaped as regular focal spots. Here we describe novel designs of such so-called 'easySTED phase plates' and provide a rationale how to find the desired spectral signature for combinations of multiple wavelengths.

Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) systems acquire images with spectral information over a wide range of wavelengths but are often affected by chromatic and other optical aberrations that degrade image quality. Deconvolution algorithms can improve the spatial resolution of HSI systems, yet retrieving the point spread function (PSF) is a crucial and challenging step. To address this challenge, we have developed a method for PSF estimation in HSI systems based on computed wavefronts.

Electrochromism stands out as a highly promising technology for applications including variable optical attenuators, optical switches, transparent displays, and dynamic windows. The pursuit of high-contrast tunability in electrochromic devices remains a challenging goal. Here, the first photochromic hydrogel electrolyte is reported for electro- and photo-dual responsive chromatic devices that yield a high transmittance contrast at 633 nm (ΔT = 83.

Spatially selective imaging (SSI) involves sampling a group of pixels from different positions on an encoded object to display a decoded image. Here, SSI is achieved by using off-axis cylindrical Fresnel lens arrays to decode multiple images from an encoded print of structural color pixels. Each image is optically retrieved by separately placing different "keys" (arrays of lenses in different pseudorandom configurations) over the same encoded print, and then each image is digitally reconstructed for visualization.

YSiO:Ce, YSiO:Dy, and YSiO:Ce and Dy phosphors were successfully synthesized using the oxalate wet chemical method. Phase purity, emission and excitation spectra, FTIR, and the chromaticity coordinate were adopted to represent the performance of the samples. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum YSiO:Ce and Dy phosphor shows a broadband in violet-blue region with a bandwidth of nearly 75 nm due to combine effect of Ce-Dy ions with another emission peaks of Dy ions peaking at 574 nm.

In today's era of rapid computing, advanced big data analytics enables precise results and efficient trend analysis. By leveraging these tools, the influence of various film thicknesses of Colored Solar Selective Absorbers (CSSAs) on solar absorption efficiency (α) and chromaticity was investigated. A clear and visually informative Chromaticity Coordinate Distribution (CCD) versus α diagram was constructed within the CIE xy chromaticity diagram, establishing a correlation between chromaticity and α.
