Case: We report a rare case of posttraumatic hallux valgus in a collegiate football player after an acute medial collateral ligament tear of the first metatarsophalangeal joint. The patient was treated with a modification of the modified McBride technique, using an all-suture anchor for the medial ligamentous complex repair. There was return to sport at 5 months and a Foot and Ankle Outcome Score of 95% at 10 months.
Conclusion: A modified McBride procedure further modified with the utilization of an all-suture anchor for the medial ligamentous complex repair can result in correction of deformity, pain-free movement and return to sport.

Background: Weightbearing computed tomography (WBCT) has been increasingly employed to evaluate and treat patients with varied pathologies such as progressive collapsing foot deformity (PCFD), posttraumatic deformity, hallux valgus, ankle arthritis, Charcot arthropathy, lisfranc, and syndesmosis injuries. However, little is known regarding its overall availability to foot and ankle providers and how it is being used in clinical practice. The goal of this study is to assess the utilization of WBCT among AOFAS members, identify the indications for use in clinical practice and potential barriers for implementation.

It has long been accepted that trauma is one of the most important and frequent predisposing factors for onychomycoses. However, the role of direct trauma in the pathogenesis of fungal nail infections has only recently been elucidated in a series of 32 cases of post-traumatic single-digit onychomycosis. The importance of repeated trauma due to foot and toe abnormalities was rarely investigated.

We report a case of intermittent dislocation of the flexor hallucis longus at its passage in the retro-malleolar area, related to a post-traumatic detachment of the retrotalar pulley from the medial tubercle of the talus. High-resolution ultrasound depicted the anterior dislocation of the tendon during dynamic stress, by asking the patient to flex his hallux against the examiner resistance, with the ankle in slight dorsiflexion. The tendon normally relocated after the dynamic maneuver.

Post-traumatic compartment syndrome in the lower extremity has been commonly associated with fractures of the tibia. Only in rare cases, this critical condition might be related to isolated fibular fractures. We present a rare case of delayed onset of acute compartment syndrome after a solitary fracture of the fibula.
