The currently known cetoniine fauna of Ghana is discussed and illustrated. It now includes 60 genera and 148 taxa, including 9 subspecies. Comparison to the adjacent countries of Ivory Coast and nearby Benin gives evidence that the faunas of all three countries surprisingly may still be grossly under-sampled and hence poorly known for what is considered a relatively well-known group of beetles. At least 22 species known from both Ivory Coast and Benin are expected to be found in Ghana but still have yet to be reported. Notes on several species concepts and the alternate use of names are also given to clarify the taxonomy of the taxa known from this area.

In recent decades, African vulture populations have experienced a distressing decline, with certain species plummeting by over 90%. This decline can largely be attributed to various human-induced pressures. In West Africa, the trade of vultures for magico-traditional medicine stands out as a significant threat.

Background: Malaria remains a threat in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Côte d'Ivoire, where it is endemic and represents the leading cause of hospital consultations, morbidity and mortality. The strong climatic variations that exist between coastal and savannah areas of Côte d'Ivoire suggest that vector control interventions should be scheduled according to the eco-epidemiological diversity. This study evaluates bioecological parameters of vectors and malaria transmission in two health districts, one coastal and one central of Côte d'Ivoire.

The study investigates the role of governance quality on the effect of health expenditure on health outcomes captured by life expectancy at birth, infant mortality, under-five mortality, crude mortality and maternal mortality rates in West African Countries. Although these countries have made significant efforts to increase health expenditure over the years, health outcomes have only responded marginally in West African Countries, raising concerns about the importance of health expenditure in improving health outcomes. This study analyses the relationship between the role of governance and health expenditure and health outcomes using the feasible generalised least squares estimation techniques.

Objectives: Self-domestication theory and preliminary data suggest that western chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus) could have smaller brains than eastern chimpanzees (P. t. schweinfurthii), but no large-scale studies of chimpanzee endocranial volume (ECV) have tested this.

We used fecal DNA metabarcoding to genetically characterize Trichuris spp. populations in patient samples from Côte d'Ivoire showing lower (egg reduction rate <70%) albendazole/ivermectin sensitivity than those from Laos and Tanzania (egg reduction rates >98%).
