This study examined the acute effects of dynamic stretching at different velocities on the neuromuscular system. Fourteen participants underwent four experimental sessions in random order: (1) control (lying at rest with the ankle in a neutral position); (2) slow velocity dynamic stretching (50 beats/min; SLOW); (3) moderate velocity dynamic stretching (70 beats/min; MOD); and (4) fast velocity dynamic stretching (90 beats/min; FAST). The stretching protocols consisted of four sets of 10 repetitions and targeted the plantar flexor muscles of the right ankle.

The present study examined factors associated with trunk skeletal muscle thickness (MT, an index for the amount of skeletal muscle) and echo intensity (EI, an index for the content of non-contractile tissue, such as intramuscular adipose tissue) in young Japanese men and women in consideration of habitual dietary intake. Healthy men (n = 26) and women (n = 24) aged 20 to 26 were enrolled. Trunk MT and EI were evaluated using ultrasound imaging at the height of the 3rd lumbar vertebra.

Background: Due to its significant unilateral predominance, tennis can provoke functional and morphological asymmetries that develop over time and may result in undesired morphological alterations.
Hypothesis/purpose: The goals of this study were a) to assess glenohumeral range of motion and muscular stiffness in young tennis players with and without a history of shoulder pain and b) to examine interlimb asymmetries in these variables in both groups. It was hypothesized that players with a history of shoulder pain would show a reduced glenohumeral internal rotation (IR) and total arc of motion (TAM) and increased stiffness in internal rotator muscles compared to those without shoulder pain.

This systematic literature review (SLR) aimed to comprehensively synthesize existing studies that have reported on TMG-derived parameters of lower extremities in soccer players. The PubMed, Web of Science, and EBSCOHost (including MEDLINE, SPORTDiscuss, ERIC, DOAJ, and SCOPUS) databases were searched from inception to the 31 of August, 2023. Reports were eligible if they satisfied the following criteria: recruited active soccer players, with no restriction on race, sex, age, level of expertise, or health status; studies utilizing TMG for measuring muscle contractile properties.

Introduction: Laryngeal muscle physiology is integral to many speech, voice, swallowing, and respiratory functions. A key determinant of a muscle's contractile properties, including its fatigue profile and capacity for force production, is the myosin heavy chain (MyHC) isoform that predominates in the muscle. This study surveys literature on the MyHC compositions of mammalian intrinsic laryngeal skeletal muscle to illustrate trends and gaps in laryngeal muscle fiber typing techniques, models, and concepts.
