Amid ambitious net-zero goals and growing demands for freight logistics, addressing the climate challenges posed by the heavy-duty truck (HDT) sector is an urgent and pivotal task. This study develops an integrated HDT model by incorporating vehicle dynamic simulation and life cycle analysis to quantify energy consumption, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and total cost of ownership associated with three emerging powertrain technologies in various truck use scenarios in China, including battery electric, fuel cell electric, and hydrogen combustion engine trucks. The results reveal varying levels of economic suitability for these powertrain alternatives depending on required driving ranges and duty cycles: the battery electric for regional-haul applications, the hydrogen fuel cell for longer-haul and low-load driving conditions, and the hydrogen combustion engine to meet high power requirements.

Objective: This study aimed to introduce and evaluate a novel software-based system, BioTrace, designed for real-time monitoring of thermal ablation tissue damage during image-guided radiofrequency ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: BioTrace utilizes a proprietary algorithm to analyze the temporo-spatial behavior of thermal gas bubble activity during ablation, as seen in conventional B-mode ultrasound imaging. Its predictive accuracy was assessed by comparing the ablation zones it predicted with those annotated by radiologists using contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) 24 hours post-treatment, considered the gold standard.

Dative bonds are typically polar, weaker, and longer than electron-sharing covalent bonds. The intriguing diatomic BeF anion uniquely exhibits triple Be-F dative bonding with a considerable bond dissociation energy (BDE) of 88 kcal/mol. Here, we report exceptionally strong dative-bonded systems, [CO]BeF and [CO]BeF, with BDE values exceeding 155 kcal/mol by integrating [CO] and [CO] groups into the BeF framework.

Understanding the interactions between transition metal atoms and molecules is important for the study of various related chemical and physical processes. In this study, we have investigated collisions between iron (Fe), iridium (Ir), and platinum (Pt) and the small molecules CH, O, and CO using a crossed-beam and time-sliced ion velocity map imaging technique. Elastic collisions were observed in all cases, except for collisions of Pt with O and CO.

Carbon coating on SiO surface is crucial for enhancing initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) and cycling performance in batteries, while also buffering volume expansion. Despite its market prevalence, the effects of the carbon layer's quality and structure on the electrochemical properties of SiO remain underexplored. This study compares carbon layers produced via gas-phase and solid-phase coating methods, introducing an innovative technique that sequentially uses two gases to develop a low-impedance hybrid carbon structure.
