Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease and may be associated with many autoimmune conditions. Hypoparathyroidism is a rare disease. The leading cause of hypoparathyroidism is postsurgical hypoparathyroidism. However, hypoparathyroidism as an initial presentation of SLE is still a rare condition. Background: Total thyroidectomy (TT) is usually recommended for unilateral papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) with lateral lymph node metastasis (LLNM), but no significant improvement in recurrence-free survival (RFS) is seen upon treatment. As an initial surgery, lobectomy may have advantages in appropriately selected unilateral PTC with ipsilateral LLNM.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the feasibility of lobectomy for selected unilateral PTC with ipsilateral LLNM.

This study presents the cases of two women who developed severe permanent hypoparathyroidism after neck surgery for papillary thyroid cancer and underwent parathyroid allotransplantation. Despite taking high doses of calcium and calcitriol supplements, the patients experienced persistent hypocalcemic symptoms. Fresh parathyroid tissue was removed and prepared from two patients with hyperparathyroidism secondary to end-stage kidney disease and was implanted in the non-dominant forearm of the recipients.
