Fibrin deposition in the alveolar spaces during pulmonary involvement of COVID-19 impairs the O/CO exchange and leads to respiratory symptoms. In this report, Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator (r-tPA) has been nebulized to 3 critically ill COVID-19 patients in order to resolve the deposited fibrin while avoiding the risk of bleeding. Based on these observations, nebulization of r-tPA may be a potential therapeutic approach and new area of research for future studies.

Objective: Awake, endoscopic spinal fusion has been utilized as an ultra-minimally invasive surgery technique to accomplish the goals of spinal fixation, fusion, and disc height restoration. While many techniques exist for this approach, this series represents a single institution's experience with a large cohort and the evolution of this method.
Methods: The medical records of a consecutive series of 400 patients treated over a 10-year period were retrospectively reviewed.

Median craniofacial hypoplasia is characterized by tissue deficiency of the midline facial structures and/or brain. Patients can present with a wide variety of facial differences that may or may not require operative intervention. Common reconstructive procedures include cleft lip and/or palate repair, rhinoplasty, and orthognathic surgery, among others.

Increasing healthcare costs, limited healthcare resources, an aging population, and lifestyle-related diseases make wound management a growing clinical, social, and economic burden. This case series investigated the use of a novel, biocompatible, polymer-based transforming powder dressing (TPD) that transforms in situ to a shape-retentive wound matrix upon hydration for treating wounds of various etiologies. In this institutional review board-approved single-center retrospective case series, the researchers evaluated various acute and chronic wounds treated with TPD over a period of 2 years.

A series of tripodal (three-arm) lysine-based peptides were designed and synthesized and their self-assembly properties in aqueous solution and antimicrobial activity were investigated. We compare the behaviors of homochiral tripodal peptides (KKY)K and a homologue containing the bulky aromatic fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl (Fmoc) group Fmoc-(KKY)K, and heterochiral analogues containing k (d-Lys), (kkY)K and Fmoc-(kkY)K. The molecular conformation and self-assembly in aqueous solutions were probed using various spectroscopic techniques, along with small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and cryogenic-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM).
