Promoting childhood and adolescent health and long-term well-being requires an emphasis on preventative care and anticipatory guidance. In this review, the authors will focus on pertinent ear, nose, and throat preventative health in children, providing clinicians with relevant and succinct information to counsel children and their parents on the following essential subjects: foreign body aspiration and ingestion, upper respiratory infection prevention, noise exposure risks, aural hygiene, risks of primary and secondhand smoke exposure, and sleep hygiene.

Objective: Dose-response analysis of the effect of each additional contact where family planning (FP) was discussed during antenatal, delivery, postnatal or immunisation visits on the uptake of postpartum family planning (PPFP) within 12 months.

Design: A cohort where pregnant women were enrolled and reinterviewed approximately 12 months postpartum. Life table analyses examined differentials in probabilities of adopting contraception over 12 months postpartum by level of exposure to FP counselling.

Introduction: Infants born very preterm (VPT, <32 weeks' gestation) are at increased risk for neurodevelopmental impairments including motor, cognitive and behavioural delay. Parental separation itself may be painful for both divorcing parents and children; however, this may not be the only stressful event in family structure among postdivorce families. Most divorced parents may start seeking a new romantic relationship before, during, and/or soon after their divorce or separation is finalized. Given that postdivorce dating may develop as a meaningful, stable, and supportive family tie, such as a stepparent-stepchild relationship, parents must communicate their new relationship with children if this relationship trajectory is anticipated.
