While stretching of a polymer along a flat surface is hardly different from the classical Pincus problem of pulling chain ends in free space, the role of curved geometry in conformational statistics of the stretched chain is an exciting open question. We use scaling analysis and computer simulations to examine stretching of a fractal polymer chain around a disc in 2D (or a cylinder in 3D) of radius R. We reveal that the typical excursions of the polymer away from the surface and curvature-induced correlation length scale as Δ∼R^{β} and S^{*}∼R^{1/z}, respectively, with the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) growth β=1/3 and dynamic exponents z=3/2. Although probability distribution of excursions does not belong to KPZ universality class, the KPZ scaling is independent of the fractal dimension of the polymer and, thus, is universal across classical polymer models, e.g., SAW, randomly branching polymers, crumpled unknotted rings. Additionally, our Letter establishes a mapping between stretched polymers in curved geometry and the Balagurov-Vaks model of random walks among traps.

This study addresses the inherent fragility and fractal limitations of traditional silica aerogels by developing a bio-templated aerogel fiber. Integrating cellulose nanofibers (CNFs), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and silica aerogel (SA) in a dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) dispersion, a gel-spinning technique was employed to create aerogel fibers with superior thermomechanical performance. CNF also provided excellent rheological modification for successful spinnability, fast gelation, and fiber formation.

The geological phenomenon of igneous rock invading coal seam is widely distributed, which induces mining risk and affects efficient mining. The pre-splitting blasting method of igneous rock is feasible but difficult to implement accurately, resulting in unnecessary safety and environmental pollution risks. In this paper, the blasting model with penetrating structural plane and the multi-hole blasting model with different hole spacing were established based on the Riedel-Hiermaier-Thoma (RHT) damage constitutive to explore the stress wave propagation law under detonation.

We consider the effect of perturbing a single bond on ground states of nearest-neighbor Ising spin glasses, with a Gaussian distribution of the coupling constants, across various two- and three-dimensional lattices and regular random graphs. Our results reveal that the ground states are strikingly fragile with respect to such changes. Altering the strength of only a single bond beyond a critical threshold value leads to a new ground state that differs from the original one by a droplet of flipped spins whose boundary and volume diverge with the system size-an effect that is reminiscent of the more familiar phenomenon of disorder chaos.

A non-fungible token (NFT) market is a new trading invention based on the blockchain technology, which parallels the cryptocurrency market. In the present work, we study capitalization, floor price, the number of transactions, the inter-transaction times, and the transaction volume value of a few selected popular token collections. The results show that the fluctuations of all these quantities are characterized by heavy-tailed probability distribution functions, in most cases well described by the stretched exponentials, with a trace of power-law scaling at times, long-range memory, persistence, and in several cases even the fractal organization of fluctuations, mostly restricted to the larger fluctuations, however.
