We investigated the association between dual decline (DD) (loss of memory and gait speed) and the instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) degeneration in older adults. Data were drawn from the National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (NSHAP) reflecting changes over 5 years. This study used the NSHAP data set wave 2 (2010-2011, = 3196) and wave 3 (2015-2016, = 4377). Data from 1640 participants were retrieved. There were 601 people with DD and 1039 people without-DD. The DD group had a 28.4% (95% CI = 1.013-1.626) greater risk of degrading in IADL than the without-DD group (odds ratio = 1.284, < .05). Current research can be used when establishing intervention programs or policies that can prevent IADL degradation through simple memory training and walking activities for older adults living in the community.

Background: The effects of physical activity (PA) across different domains and intensities on depressive symptoms remain inconclusive. Incorporating the community-built environment (CBE) into longitudinal analyses of PA's impact on depressive symptoms is crucial.
Objective: This study aims to examine the effects of PA at different intensities-low-intensity PA (eg, walking activities) and moderate-to-vigorous-intensity PA (eg, activities requiring substantial effort and causing faster breathing or shortness of breath)-across leisure-time and occupational domains on depressive symptom trajectories among middle-aged and older adults.

Targeting the WDR5-MLL1 protein-protein interaction (PPI) is considered to be an effective approach for the treatment of MLL-rearranged leukemia. However, interfering with WDR5-MLL1 PPI reduces methylated H3K4 levels and induces a decline in acetylated H3 levels, which may contribute to the suboptimal cellular efficacy of WDR5 inhibitors. We observed that cotreatment with WDR5-MLL1 PPI and HDAC inhibitors augmented the antiproliferative effect in MV-4-11 cells.

Background: Various studies have provided evidence of the impact of COVID-19 and the measures adopted by governments on drug use and its treatment. After 4 years, a more precise assessment of the evolution of patients and addiction treatment services can be made. The objective of this study is to compare different periods during the COVID-19 pandemic to identify changes in patient profiles and the care activity of addiction treatment centres.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the accumulation of toxic amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) of tau protein in the brain. Microglia, key immune cells of the central nervous system, play an important role in AD development and progression, primarily through their responses to Aβ and NFTs. Initially, microglia can clear Aβ, but in AD, chronic activation overwhelms protective mechanisms, leading to sustained neuroinflammation that enhances plaque toxicity, setting off a damaging cycle that affects neurons, astrocytes, cerebral vasculature, and other microglia.

Rice productivity and quality are increasingly at risk in arsenic (As) affected areas, challenge that is expected to worsen under changing climatic conditions. Free-Air Concentration Enrichment experiments revealed that eCO, eO, and eTemp, whether acting individually or in combination with low and high As irrigation, significantly impact rice yield and grain quality. Elevated CO₂ significantly increased shoot biomass, with minimal impact on root biomass, except under low As irrigation conditions.
