This study investigated the effect of hot working conditions on changes in yield stress and the softening degree in the newly developed multiphase steel with Ti and V microadditions. The research was performed on the GLEEBLE 3800 thermomechanical simulator. In order to determine the σ-ε curves, continuous compression tests were carried out. The samples were plastically deformed at temperatures from 900 °C to 1100 °C at the rate of 0.1 s, 1 s and 10 s. The activation energy of the plastic deformation was 375 kJ·mol. The analysis of the shape and course of the curves indicated that the decrease in strain hardening was mainly the result of the continuous dynamic recrystallization process. Two-stage compression with isothermal holding of the samples was also carried out between the two stages of deformation lasting from 1 s to 50 s. The structure of primary austenite was generated using the ARPGE software. The different size of austenite grain is the result of various thermally activated processes-when increasing the strain rate from 0.1 s to 10 s, the average grain size of the primary austenite decreases from approx. 16 µm to approx. 6 µm. The time t needed to form 50% of the austenite fraction recrystallized at 1100 °C is approx. 4 s and extends to approx. 10 s with the reduction in the plastic deformation temperature to 900 °C. The time of complete austenite recrystallization t, which varies from approx. 50 s to approx. 90 s in the tested temperature range, lengthens even more. The obtained results make it possible to develop thermomechanical treatment technology for the production of forgings from the tested multiphase steel.

Biofilms can cause biofouling, water quality deterioration, and transmission of infectious diseases. They are also responsible for microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) which can cause leaks, resulting in environmental disasters. A new disposable biofilm/MIC test kit was demonstrated to distinguish abiotic corrosion of carbon steel from MIC.

About 70% of the flue gas in the iron-steel industry has achieved multi-pollutant ultra-low emissions in China until 2023, and then the blast furnace gas purification has become the control step and bottleneck. Our research group has designed and constructed the world's first blast furnace gas desulfurization pilot plant with the scale of 2000 Nm/h in October 2021. The pilot plant is a two-step combined desulfurization device including catalytic hydrolysis of carbonyl sulfur (COS) and absorption-oxidation of HS, continuously running for 120 days.

The exploration of multiphases and 0D/2D heterojunction in transition metal phosphides (TMPs) and transition metal sulfides (TMDs) is of major interest for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, a novel combination route where 0D mixed-phased 1T/2H molybdenum sulfide quantum dots (MoS QDs) are uniformly anchored on the 2D CoP nanosheets is developed. MoS QDs and CoP were prepared via hydrothermal method and mixed with different ratios (Mo:Co ratios of 2:1, 1:1, and 1:2) and annealed under different temperatures to modulate their application in acidic HER processes.

In this study, a 304 stainless steel (304 SS)/20 carbon steel (20 CS) bimetal was prepared by vacuum diffusion bonding, with 20 CS as the substrate and 304 SS as the cladding layer, and the interfacial microstructure and bonding strength before and after solution treatment were studied. The 304 SS and The 20 CS formed a strong metallurgical bond after being held at 1380 °C for 60 min without defects such as unbonded regions. Diffusion of Cr and Ni atoms from the 304 SS to the 20 CS occurred, and the C atoms diffused from the 20 CS to the 304 SS, forming a carburized region.

The corrosion behavior of 20G and TP347H materials was investigated in molten LiCl-NaCl-KCl salt. The corrosion rates of these materials in molten chloride salt are high and are strongly affected by the alloying surface oxide formation. The 20G shows uniform surface corrosion with almost no protective oxide formation on the surface.
