Through the application of a redox-innocent aryl diimine chelate, the discovery and utilization of a cobalt catalyst, (ADI)Co, that exhibits carbonyl hydrosilylation turnover frequencies of up to 330 s is described. This activity is believed to be the highest ever reported for metal-catalyzed carbonyl hydrosilylation.

Samarium Diiodide/Samarium-Mediated Deoxygenative Hydrosilylation of Ketones.

Department of Chemistry, Shanghai University, 99 Shangda Road, Shanghai 200444, China.

The first deoxygenative hydrosilylation of ketones promoted by samarium diiodide and samarium has been reported. In this approach, secondary alkyl silanes are synthesized from unactivated ketones and chlorosilanes in one step. The carbonyl group of ketones is activated by SmI-mediated single-electron transfer process, which follows a deoxygenative elimination of O=Sm.

Hydride abstraction from the borane adduct, (BICAAC) ⋅ BH afforded the hydride bridged dinuclear borenium ion equivalent complexes 1 and 2 that have been characterized by various spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques followed by the assessment of Lewis acidity using the Gutmann-Beckett method. The single crystal X-ray structure of complex 2 revealed the presence of discrete ions in the solid state. The complex (BICAAC) ⋅ BH(OTf) (3), obtained from the reaction of (BICAAC) ⋅ BH with MeOTf, formed the corresponding boronium cations [(BICAAC) ⋅ BH(L)](OTf) on reaction with Lewis bases (L= pyridine (4) and DMAP (5)).

Rhodium-catalyzed synthesis of Si-stereogenic alkoxysilanes and silyl enol ethers hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds.

A highly efficient rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrosilylation of aldehydes, ketones, and α,β-unsaturated ketones with dihydrosilanes is developed, that allows the rapid assembly of a variety of Si-stereogenic alkoxysilanes and silyl enol ethers in good yields and enantioselectivities under mild conditions. The applicability of this methodology was demonstrated by a series of stereospecific transformations to construct diverse Si-stereogenic derivatives.

A novel dinuclear silylene cobalt complex [((MeP)Co)(PMe)(CoCl(PMe))(Si(NCHPPh)CH)] () supported by the [PSi(silylene)P] ligand was prepared through the reaction of N-heterocyclic [PSiP] pincer ligand (HSiCl(NCHPPh)CH) with Co(PMe). Complex [((MeP)Co)(Si(NCHPPh)CH)] () was formed through the reaction of complex with MeLi. To the best of our knowledge, complexes and are the first examples of dinuclear silylene cobalt complexes supported by the [PSi(silylene)P] ligand.

Cu-catalyzed carbonyl hydrosilylation involves a ligated "[(L)CuH]" as the active catalyst, where the ligand L has a crucial role toward the stability, stereoselectivity, and enhancement of the hydridicity. Strongly σ-donating N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), their ring-expanded form, and an abnormal NHC as ligands have yielded robust and efficient Cu catalysts. However, cyclic(alkyl)(amino)carbenes (CAACs), despite being stronger σ-donors than NHCs and already having a salient Cu chemistry, are yet to be reported as a similar ligand platform for this purpose.
