The reaction of ytterbium metal with ammonium tri-fluoro-acetate in liquid ammonia resulted in a green substance comprising a substantial amount of ytterbium(II) tri-fluoro-acetate that is a useful precursor for the oxidative synthesis of the new ytterbium(III) compound, [(NH) (HO) ][YbF(OCCF)(HO)]·4HO ( = 1/4), in aqueous tri-fluoro-acetic acid. This mixed ammonium/oxonium crystalline solid is the first example of a substance containing an -hexa-nuclear ytterbium(III) complex with μ-face-capping fluorido ligands. The main structural features of its [YbF] core are non-bonding Yb⋯Yb distances and Yb-F bond lengths of 3.7576 (3)-3.9413 (5) and 2.2375 (17)-2.3509 (17) Å, respectively. Yb-O bond lengths involving the O atoms of ,'-bridging carboxyl-ato ligands and vertex-substituting aqua ligands are in the ranges 2.23 (4)-2.329 (2) and 2.448 (2)-2.544 (3) Å, respectively. These bond lengths are in accordance with expectations, taking into account lanthanoid contraction. Inter-estingly, there is a significant ammonium oxonium ion site dependence, not only of the hydrate water mol-ecule positions within the solid's hydrogen-bonding framework, but also of the coordination sites of one carboxyl-ato and one aqua ligand in the hexa-nuclear complex.

In recent years, biosurfactants (BS) produced by various bacteria, fungi and yeast strains have attracted much interest because of their unique properties and potential applications in many industries ranging from bioremediation to agriculture and biomedical to cosmetics. Glycolipids are a popular group of BS that include rhamnolipids, sophorolipids, mannosylerythritol, trehalose lipids, xylolipids and cellobiose lipids. Lipopeptides e.

Ammonia borane (NHBH, AB) is considered a promising chemical hydrogen storage material. The development of efficient, stable, and economical catalysts for AB hydrolysis is essential for realizing the hydrogen energy economy. In this study, a series of p-p heterojunction catalysts, labeled M (P/S/Cl)-CuCoO, were fabricated using the high-temperature vapor phase method to achieve anionic interface gradient doping.

The search for stable compounds containing an antiaromatic cyclic 4π system is a challenge for inventive chemists that can look back on a long history. Here we report the isolation and characterization of the novel 4π-electron tetrasilacyclobutadiene, an analogue of a 4π neutral cyclobutadiene that exhibits surprising features of a Möbius-type aromatic ring. Reduction of RSiCl (R = (Pr)PCH) with KC in the presence of cycloalkyl amino-carbene (cAAC) led to the formation of corresponding silylene 1.

Genetically encoded fluorescent biosensors (GEFBs) have become indispensable tools for visualizing biological processes A typical GEFB is composed of a sensory domain (SD) that undergoes a conformational change upon ligand binding or enzymatic reaction; the SD is genetically fused with a fluorescent protein (FP). The changes in the SD allosterically modulate the chromophore environment whose spectral properties are changed. Single fluorescent (FP)-based biosensors, a subclass of GEFBs, offer a simple experimental setup; they are easy to produce in living cells, structurally stable, and simple to use due to their single-wavelength operation.

The enthalpy of the oxotransfer reaction of [BuN][WO(mnt)] (where mnt is maleonitriledithiolate) with PPh in an inert atmosphere in an acetonitrile solution was determined by calorimetry. The obtained enthalpy value (-93 ± 5) kJ mol differs from the enthalpy value of the reaction carried out by us earlier under aerobic conditions by (16 ± 9) kJ mol. The obtained results indicate the participation of atmospheric oxygen in the catalytic process.
