Coronavirus disease 2019 is an infectious disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virus. Hypoxic respiratory failure, multiorgan dysfunction, septic shock, thrombosis, and thromboembolic complications have been associated with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection. We report the presentation of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection with acute upper extremity ischemia and mesenteric ischemia clinic. We also report that this patient had an aortic arch mural thrombus as a possible source of thromboembolism, and we emphasize that the aorta should also be carefully evaluated in thromboembolic patients with coronavirus disease 2019.

Objective: To assess muscle loss via ultrasound in the elderly and its link to clinical outcomes and risk factors.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study assessed muscle loss in hospitalized elderly via ultrasound, comparing bilateral anterior thigh thickness (BATT) at admission and after seven days, exploring its relation to hospital-acquired complications (HACs).
Results: In 86 patients (mean age 83.

Background: Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome is a monogenic type 1 interferonopathy with infantile onset, characterized by a variable degree of neurological damage. Approximately 7% of Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome cases are caused by pathogenic variants in the ADAR gene and are classified as Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome type 6. Here, we present a new homozygous pathogenic variant in the ADAR gene.

Background: A comprehensive understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis (CP), a fibroinflammatory disorder of the pancreas, is warranted for the development of targeted therapies. The current study focused on comparing the transcriptomes of pancreatic tissues obtained from patients with CP with those of two rodent models of chemically induced CP to identify dysregulated genes/signaling pathways.
Methods: Pancreatitis was induced in mice using cerulein and L-arginine.

Liver transplantation is currently recognized as the most effective treatment for severe liver diseases. Although survival rates after liver transplantation have improved, rejection of the transplanted liver remains a significant cause of morbidity and transplant failure in patients. Our team previously discovered a close association between high GBP1 expression and acute rejection reactions following liver transplantation.
