Peripheral nerve injuries (PNI) represent the most common type of nervous system injuries, resulting in 5 million injuries per year. Current gold standard, autografts, still carry several limitations, including the inappropriate type, size, and function matches in grafted nerves, lack of autologous donor sites, neuroma formation, and secondary surgery incisions. Polymeric nerve conduits, also known as nerve guides, can help overcome the aforementioned issues that limit nerve recovery and regeneration by reducing tissue fibrosis, misdirection of regenerating axons, and the inability to maintain long- distance axonal growth.

Lupus nephritis (LN) is a serious kidney complication associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), marked by the immune system's misdirected attack on kidney tissues, resulting in inflammation and compromised filtration. This condition has the potential to progress to end-stage renal disease in about 20% of patients within a decade of diagnosis. Lupus nephritis is more prevalent in females, highlighting the urgent need for effective treatment strategies.

Vascular anomalies usually present at the beginning of life and vary in their course of progression and treatment. The pinpoint diagnosis of each lesion is often misdirected, owing to the complexity surrounding the classification. At the broadest level, differentiation between tumoral structures such as hemangiomas and other vascular malformations is required to not only select the correct procedure, but more importantly determining whether treatment is necessary.
