AI Article Synopsis

  • This study introduces a construction method using carbon fiber and cement-based composites to enhance building durability.
  • Experimental analysis shows that carbon fiber reinforced cement (CFRC) samples with 0.6% fiber content have the highest elastic modulus, indicating better strength.
  • Increasing carbon fiber content within a specific range improves the mechanical properties, suggesting that these composites can significantly boost the quality and lifespan of buildings.

Article Abstract

In order to improve the durability of building construction, this study proposes a construction method based on carbon fiber and cement-based composites. Analyze the mechanical properties of carbon fiber cement-based composites, combined with experiments to further analyze its advantages in building construction, to achieve the purpose of building durability construction. The experimental results show that the elastic modulus of CFRC samples with a 0.6% carbon fiber volume percentage is the largest. When the content of carbon fiber increases within a certain range, the elastic modulus of CFRC samples will also increase. . The application of carbon fiber cement-based composites in building construction can effectively improve the durability of buildings and further improve the quality of buildings.

1D moisture-enabled electric generators (MEGs) hold great promise for powering electronic textiles, but their current limitations in power output and operational duration restrict their application in wearable technology. This study introduces a high-performance yarn-based moisture-enabled electric generator (YMEG), which comprises a carbon-fiber core, a cotton yarn active layer with a radial gradient of poly(4-styrensulfonic acid) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PSSA/PVA), and an aluminum wire as the outer electrode. The unique design maintains a persistent moisture gradient between the interior and exterior electrodes, enhancing performance through the continuous proton diffusion from PSSA and Al⁺ ions from the aluminum wire.

Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, University of Pretoria, Hatfield, 0001, Pretoria, South Africa.

In recent decades, natural rangelands have emerged as vital sources of livelihood and ecological services, particularly in Southern Africa, supporting communities in developing regions. However, the escalating global demand for food, driven by a growing human population, has led to the extensive expansion of cultivated areas, resulting in continuous nutrient leaching in rangelands. To ensure the long-term viability of these ecosystems, there is a need to develop effective approaches for managing and monitoring the seasonality of forage quality.

Renewable energy-driven electrochemical CO2 reduction has emerged as a promising technology for a sustainable future. However, achieving efficient production of storable liquid fuels at ampere-level current densities remains a significant hurdle in the large-scale implementation of CO2 electroreduction. Here we report a novel catalytic electrode comprising chlorine-doped SnO2 nanoflowers arrayed on the exterior of three-dimensional nickel hollow fibers.

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Silicon and Advanced Semiconductor Materials, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310058, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Ammonium-ion hybrid supercapacitors (AIHSCs) are recognized for their safety and eco-friendliness, with manganese oxides being promising cathode materials despite challenges from side electrochemical reactions in aqueous electrolytes.
  • The study investigates the behavior of β-/γ-MnO electrodes and identifies side reactions, including MnO dissolution, re-deposition, and NH insertion, which result in irreversible structural changes and reduced performance over time.
  • To enhance performance and stability, a self-adjusting mechanism is proposed, incorporating trace manganese in the electrolyte, leading to an AIHSC with impressive energy and power densities of 60.2 Wh/kg and 5000 W/kg.
