Fanconi anemia (FA) is a congenital multisystem disorder characterized by early-onset bone marrow failure (BMF) and cancer susceptibility. While gene addition and repair therapies are being considered as treatment options, depleted hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) pools, poor HSC mobilization, compromised survival during transduction, and increased sensitivity to conventional conditioning strategies limit eligibility for FA patients to receive gene therapies. As an alternative approach, we explored protein replacement by mRNA delivery via lipid nanoparticles (LNPs).

December 2024

Parasite and Vector Research Unit (PAVRU), Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, University of Buea, Buea, Cameroon.

Background: is transmitted by species and affects hundred millions of inhabitants in about 33 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. It is known that Mansonellosis due to do not result in a clear clinical picture, but down-regulates the immunity of patients predisposing them to other diseases like tuberculosis, HIV and malaria or damping vaccine efficacy. However, research about novel drugs against this filarial nematode is missing because of the lack of parasite material.

Structural analyses of Cryptosporidium parvum epitopes reveal a novel scheme of decapeptide binding to H-2K.

J Struct Biol

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, PR China. Electronic address:

Cryptosporidium has gained much attention as a major cause of diarrhea worldwide. Here, we present the first structure of H-2K complexed with a decapeptide from Cryptosporidium parvum Gp40/15 protein (Gp40/15-VTF10). In contrast to all published structures, the aromatic residue P3-Phe of Gp40/15-VTF10 is anchored in pocket C rather than the canonical Y/F at P5 or P6 reported for octapeptides and nonapeptides.

January 2025

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Veterinary Biotechnology, School of Agriculture and Biology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200240, China; Collaborative Innovation Center of Agri-Seeds / School of Agriculture and Biology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200240, China. Electronic address:

The Pro-Glu/Pro-Pro-Glu (PE/PPE) family proteins in mycobacteria plays a crucial role in pathogenesis and immune evasion. These proteins characterized by unique structures with conserved sequences. This study elucidated the specific immunological functions of MMAR_1296 from marine mycobacterium.

In situ tumor vaccines, which utilize antigens generated during tumor treatment to stimulate a cancer patient's immune system, has become a potential field in cancer immunotherapy. However, due to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (ITME), the generation of tumor antigens is always mild and not sufficient. Tumor-resident intracellular bacteria have been identified as a complete tumor microenvironment component to contribute to creating ITME.
