Background: Despite their ubiquity across sub-Saharan Africa, private pharmacies are underutilized for HIV service delivery beyond the sale of HIV self-test kits. To understand what uptake of HIV prevention and treatment services might look like if private pharmacies offered clients free HIV self-testing and referral to clinic-based HIV services, we conducted a pilot study in Kenya.
Methods: At 20 private pharmacies in Kisumu County, Kenya, pharmacy clients (≥ 18 years) purchasing sexual health-related products (e.

Background: The Minimum Information for Studies Evaluating Biologics in Orthopedics (MIBO) guidelines were developed in May 2017 to encourage improved reporting standards, promote increased transparency and reproducibility, and enhance clinical evaluation capabilities. The MIBO guidelines consist of 23 checklist items considered necessary to critically appraise clinical studies evaluating platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
Purpose: To assess randomized controlled trials that evaluated PRP for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis in order to systematically review their adherence to the MIBO guidelines.

Background: Sporadic Alzheimer's Disease (sAD) is the most prevalent progressive neurodegenerative disease worldwide, without a cure. We propose to investigate therapies that contribute to the current state of this problem using a model of sAD in rats based on a single intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of streptozotocin (STZ). In this sense, thymulin (originally known as serum thymic factor, FTS), a thymic peptide, emerges as a potential therapeutic agent due to its proven anti-inflammatory effects.

Background: This study identifies and quantifies diverse pathological tau forms in the retina at both early and advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and assesses their correlation with disease status. In the pathogenesis of AD, the tau protein undergoes post-translational modifications, including hyperphosphorylation (p-tau). As the disease progresses, pathological tau can propagate as oligomers, aggregate into fibrils, and paired helical filaments (PHF), and ultimately form intraneuronal neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs).

Background: Worldwide, 32 million Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients contribute to a large economic burden, making effective and safe therapies that slow or prevent the progression from pre-dementia or mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to AD of high priority. Transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) is a safe and patient-friendly non-invasive brain stimulation technique that serves as a potential candidate for slowing and/or reducing cognitive impairment. Application of tACS in the gamma (30-45 Hz) frequency range, specifically around 40 Hz, has been studied in patients with (pre-dementia) AD.
