Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is defined as the presence of recurrent urticaria, angioedema or both without any specific triggers, which persists for ≥ 6 weeks. Refractory cases to standard therapeutic regimens including antihistamines, immunosuppressants and biologics have been reported. Therefore, it is crucial to evolve novel therapeutic strategies through accumulating refractory CSU cases, which are successfully treated. We here report a refractory case of CSU to antihistamines and omalizumab, which was dramatically improved with colchicine.

BACKGROUND Although hypomagnesemia is common in type 2 diabetes, clinical presentations with severe hypomagnesemia are rare. A number of oral blood glucose-lowering medications can reduce serum magnesium concentrations, and several severe cases have been reported in the presence of marked glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA)-associated gastrointestinal adverse effects. In the present case, an acute presentation with severe hypomagnesemia was likely due to polypharmacy including semaglutide, albeit with a delayed relationship to discontinuation of this GLP-1RA, due to nausea and vomiting.

Accumulation of damaged biomolecules in body tissues is the primary cause of aging and age-related chronic diseases. Since this damage often occurs spontaneously, it has traditionally been regarded as untreatable, with typical therapeutic strategies targeting genes or enzymes being ineffective in this domain. In this report, we demonstrate that an antibody targeting the isoDGR damage motif in lung tissue can guide immune clearance of harmful damaged proteins in vivo, effectively reducing age-linked lung inflammation.

It is estimated that two billion people worldwide are infected with hepatitis B. In such cases, patients exposed to the virus may experience HBV-reactivation(HBVr), which is usually due to immunosuppression. It is not anticipated that spontaneous-HBVr will occur in the absence of immunosuppression in resolved HBV.

Epilepsy (EP) is a neurological disorder characterized by abnormal, sudden neuronal discharges. Seizures increase extracellular glutamate levels, causing excitotoxic damage. Glutamate transporter type 1 (GLT-1) and its human homologue excitatory amino acid transporter-2 (EAAT2) clear 95% of extracellular glutamate.

Background: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) help to assess disease control and quality of life (QoL) in chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and recurrent angioedema (RA). This study aimed to assess the correlation between two different concepts: disease control and QoL, using disease-specific PROMs.
Methods: We analyzed data from 445 CSU and 330 RA patients who completed both a disease control and QoL PROM as part of the clinical routine.
