Despite suffering from slow charge-carrier mobility, photocatalysis is still an attractive and promising technology toward producing green fuels from solar energy. An effective approach is to design and fabricate advanced architectural materials as photocatalysts to enhance the performance of semiconductor-based photocatalytic systems. Herein, metal-organic-framework-derived hierarchically ordered porous nitrogen and carbon co-doped ZnO (N-C-ZnO) structures are developed as nanoreactors with decorated CoO nanoclusters for CO -to-CO conversion driven by visible light. Introduction of hierarchical nanoarchitectures with highly ordered interconnected meso-macroporous channels shows beneficial properties for photocatalytic reduction reactions, including enhanced mobility of charge carriers throughout the highly accessible framework, maximized exposure of active sites, and inhibited recombination of photoinduced charge carriers. Density functional theory calculations further reveal the key role of CoO nanoclusters with high affinity to CO molecules, and the CoO bonds formed on the surface of the composite exhibit stronger charge redistribution. As a result, the obtained CoO /N-C-ZnO demonstrates enhanced photocatalysis performance in terms of high CO yield and long-term stability.

A golden fullerene with a composition of [Au(PhP)(5-CF-Hpa)] (CFCOO) (5-CF-Hpa=5-trifluoropyridyl-2-amine) (Au) has been synthesized with pyridylamino and phosphine ligands as the protecting agents. Single crystal X-ray structural analysis reveals that the cluster has a D Au core, which can be depicted as a centered core-shell structure Au@Au@Au. The 41 Au atoms of the Au@Au core-shell can be derived from placing a gold atom in the center of each polygon of C (D).

Disulfide is an important organic reagent and synthetic intermediate that is widely used in organic synthesis, polymers, and other fields, but its synthesis still suffers from many environmental pollution and economic problems. Here, we present an environmentally friendly and efficient base-free aerobic oxidative thiol coupling catalyzed by heterogeneous CoO nanoclusters entrapped in hierarchical silicalite-1 zeolite, synthesized by combining silane pore expansion and metal coordination methods under hydrothermal conditions. It is confirmed that open hierarchical channels favor mass diffusion, and the chemical valence of Co species in CoO/-S-1-H is +2, which is different from that of CoO particles in CoO/-S-1-I.

Herein, an amphiphile-based hydrogel (with 5% DMF) containing natural amino acid residue has been used to prepare and stabilize red-emitting CuNCs for several months. Though different methods have been attempted, amphiphile and 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA)-containing hydrogels are pinpointed to be the base medium to stabilize this new Cu-cluster. From a MALDI-TOF MS analysis it was found that it is a Cu-atom cluster stabilized by three 4-MBA ligands.
