Background: is used for medicinal and nutritional purposes. This study was, therefore, conducted to assess the contribution of based diet in reducing under nutrition in under-five children in four districts of Southern Ethiopia.

Method: A community-based comparative cross-sectional study design was employed from August to September 2016 in randomly selected comparative sites among 732 under five children. Anthropometric measurements of weight and height of children were measured based on the standard measurement protocol. Regarding diet, the consumption habit was collected by using a seven days food frequency questionnaire. Amount of leaf biomass portion size consumption was measured with local measurement and converted to kilograms. Anthropometric data were analyzed using WHO Anthro software to determine the nutritional status of the child. An independent t-test was conducted to compare the mean difference of WHO-Z score of child nutritional index. Statistical mean significance difference was measured based on p-value less than 0.05 with 95% confidence level. In addition chi-square test with a p-value, less than 0.05 with a 95% confidence level was used to compare the prevalence of stunting, wasting, and underweight in based diet and non- based diet consuming area.

Result: The prevalence of stunting was 19% vs. 28.8%, wasting 4.7% vs. 9.6%, and underweight 12.19% vs 13.71% in based diet consuming and non-consuming participants respectively. There was a significant difference in stunting and wasting (p < 0.05) among based diet-consuming and non-consuming participants. Conclusion: The present study showed that based diet consumption had a significant contribution in reducing under-nutrition in under-five children.

Long COVID (LC) is a complex multisymptom condition with no known disease-modifying treatments. This wait-list-controlled open-label trial tested whether a remotely delivered structured weight management program could improve respective LC symptoms in people living with overweight. Adults with LC (symptoms >12 weeks) and body mass index >27 kg m (>25 kg m for South Asians) were randomized (n = 234, 1:1) to control (n = 116, usual care) or the remotely delivered structured weight management (n = 118, total diet replacement (850 kcal per day) for 12 weeks, followed by food reintroduction and weight loss maintenance support) via minimization and randomization (80:20) to balance dominant LC symptom, sex, age, ethnicity and postcode-based index of multiple deprivation between groups.

This prospective, controlled field trial aimed to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of mares in late pregnancy with a commercial stud feed balancer on the transfer of passive immunity to their foals. Eighty-two pregnant mares on a single stud farm that were eligible for inclusion were assigned into two groups (Intervention and Control) based primarily on existing social groupings. Between 64-224 days prepartum, all mares received the same forage-based diet but mares in the Intervention group received an in-feed commercial stud feed balancer and mares in the Control group received the stud's home-mix concentrate.
