The rare blood group antigen previously referred to as the 'Haakestad antigen' is shown to be identical with the Hov antigen (numerical designation: 700.038). Family studies add AB0 and HLA to the systems already known to segregate independently from Hov. Among 2,021 Danish blood donors, 4 Hov+ persons were found. Anti-Hov activity has been demonstrated in several 'multiple-antibody sera'.

Objective: To investigate whether human oviductin-I (hOV-I) from human oviductal fluid (hOF) and human alpha-fetoprotein (hAFP) are identical molecules.
Design: Comparison of amino acid and carbohydrate composition of hOV-I with that of hAFP. Isolation of hAFP from oviductal fluid of a patient and evaluation of its immunochemical properties in relation to hOV-I and authentic hAFP standard.

Concordance of reactions of Wu+ and 'Hov'+ cells with 153 sera containing multiple specificities to low-incidence antigens indicates that the 'two' antigens are identical. This conclusion is confirmed by absorption and elution studies.
