The incidence of needle breakage is estimated to be 0.000007%, and most needle breaks occur during inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) administration and are localized to the pterygomandibular space. Although immediate surgical intervention is recommended for the removal of the fracture needles, intraoperative localization of a broken injection needle fragment can be challenging. Here, we present the case of a 36-year-old woman who underwent dental extraction of the left lower wisdom tooth under local anesthesia at a private office. At that time, a disposable 33G needle was broken and accidentally inserted into the pterygomandibular space during IANB. A broken injection needle was presented at the base of the left coronoid process of the mandible on computed tomography (CT). We successfully removed the broken injection needle using fluoroscopy and assisted endoscopy under general anesthesia.

Introduction: Daily oral antipsychotics (OAPs) are the mainstay of schizophrenia treatment; however, long-acting injectable antipsychotics (LAIs) are associated with better treatment adherence and improved outcomes.
Methods: This study assessed the real-world comparative effectiveness of LAIs and daily OAPs using claims data from a nationally representative sample of fee-for-service Medicare beneficiaries with schizophrenia. Antipsychotic discontinuation, psychiatric hospitalization, and treatment failure were compared relative to different reference groups using within-individual Cox regression models.

To solve the existing problems of low yield, uneven quality, and single form of industrially scrambled eggs, we have developed a continuous high-output steam scrambled egg device based on the principle of steam injected. By establishing calibration curves for egg, oil, and steam flow rates, determining the key parameters of the equipment, and simulating the heat transfer process between steam and egg by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), we created the device and verified its production performance. The bacterial pathogen causes fire blight on rosaceous plants, including apples and their wild relatives. The pathogen uses the type III secretion pathogenicity island to inject effector proteins, such as Eop1, into host plants, leading to disease phenotypes in susceptible genotypes. In contrast, resistant genotypes exhibit quantitative resistance associated with genomic regions and/or R-gene-mediated qualitative resistance to withstand the pathogen.
