Introduction: In Africa, rare publications have focused on phyllodes tumors (PTs). The aim of our study is to describe the special feature of PTs surgery.
Patients And Method: Retrospective and descriptive study of 11 cases of PT operated from January 1, 2015 to March 31, 2023 at the medical-surgical clinic in Teaching Hospital Center of Sylvanus Olympio of Lome.

Fibroadenoma is a type of benign tumor that occurs in breast tissues, commonly in younger age groups. However, the presentation of the patient described below shows how the disease presents in various manners. A 52-year-old woman presented to the outpatient clinic with a unilateral, giant, left-sided fungating breast mass who was later admitted under the General Surgical team, at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) for further corresponding diagnostic workup.

Rationale: Giant phyllodes tumors are rare fibroepithelial neoplasms, accounting for less than 1% of all primary breast tumors. Their main features are a single-round mass, progressive enlargement, and a high rate of local recurrence. A phyllodes tumor measuring more than 10 cm in diameter is usually defined as a "giant" tumor.

Introduction: Giant phyllodes tumors are fibroepithelial lesions whose diameters exceed 10 cm. Core biopsy represents the best diagnostic method in order to distinct fibroadenomas from phyllodes tumors. Wide surgical resection with clear margins is the standard of treatment.

Breast masses presenting as fungating growths usually represent advanced malignancy. One remarkable exception is a benign phyllodes tumour. These tumours of stromal origin often exhibit rapid growth, resulting in pressure necrosis at the summit of the tumor causing fungation.
