() is a traditional medicinal plant that is widely used in China. Cultivated usually encounters cold stress, limiting its growth and quality at key developmental stages. APETALA2 (AP2)/ethylene-responsive factor (ERF) transcription factors (TFs) comprise one of the largest gene superfamilies in plants and are widely involved in biotic and abiotic stresses. To reveal the roles of AP2/ERF TFs during development, 70 AP2/ERF TFs were identified in . Among them, 18 and 2 TFs were classified into the AP2 and RAV families, respectively. The other 50 TFs belonged to the ERF family and were further divided into the ERF and (dehydration reaction element binding factor) DREB subfamilies. The ERF subfamily contained 46 TFs, while the DREB subfamily contained 4 TFs. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that AP2/ERF TFs could be classified into five groups, in which 10 conserved motifs were confirmed. Several motifs were group- or subgroup-specific, implying that they were significant for the functions of the AP2/ERF TFs of these clades. In addition, 70 AP2/ERF TFs from the five groups were used for an expression pattern analysis under three low-temperature levels, namely, -4, 0, and 4°C. The majority of these AP2/ERF TFs exhibited a positive response to cold stress conditions. Specifically, ThERF5, ThERF31, ThERF46, and ThERF55 demonstrated a more sensitive response to cold stress. Moreover, AP2/ERF TFs exhibited specific expression patterns under cold stress. Transient overexpression and RNA interference indicated that ThERF46 has a specific tolerance to cold stress. These new insights provide the basis for further studies on the roles of AP2/ERF TFs in cold stress tolerance in .

Cotton is an important source of natural fibers. The AP2/ethylene response factor (ERF) family is one of the largest plant-specific transcription factors (TFs) groups, playing key roles in plant growth and development. However, the role of ERF TFs in cotton's growth and development remains unclear.

Paeonia suffruticosa is a plant of Paeonia in Paeoniaceae. It is an important woody ornamental flower in the world. High temperature in summer hinders the growth of tree peony and reduces its ornamental quality, which restricts the cultivation and application of tree peony in Jiangnan area of China.

High-quality genome information is essential for efficiently deciphering and improving crop traits. Here we report a highly contiguous and accurate hexaploid genome assembly for the key wheat breeding parent Zhou8425B, an elite 1BL/1RS translocation line with durable adult plant resistance (APR) against yellow rust (YR) disease. By integrating HiFi and Hi-C sequencing reads, a 14.

Background: Flowers are important plant organs, and their development is correlated with yield in woody fruit trees. For cultivar 'Sucui 1', the research on how DNA methylation accurately regulates the expression of TFs and affects the specific regulatory mechanism of flower bud wizening will help reduce wizened buds.
Methods: Here, the DNA methylomes and transcriptomes of two types of flower buds from the cultivar 'Sucui 1' were compared.

Bread wheat is an important crop for the human diet, but the increasing soil salinization is reducing the yield. The Ca signaling events at the early stages of the osmotic phase of salt stress are crucial for the acclimation response of the plants through the performance of calcium-sensing proteins, which activate or repress transcription factors (TFs) that affect the expression of downstream genes. Physiological, genetic mapping, and transcriptomics studies performed with the contrasting genotypes Syn86 (synthetic, salt-susceptible) and Zentos (elite cultivar, salt-tolerant) were integrated to gain a comprehensive understanding of the salt stress response.
