Introduction: Hepatoblastoma is the most common malignant primary liver tumor in the pediatric population, accounting for 67% of cases in the United States. Surgical resection is the only curative treatment option; however, it can be performed in only 10% of patients with primary tumors. The two most common limitations for resection are the need for extensive resections and tumors in central locations.

Introduction: Embryonal sarcomas of the liver (ESL) are extremely rare solid tumors appearing mainly in children. The therapeutic standard for an ESL is a margin free resection combined with chemotherapy. The Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy (ALPPS) procedure as a surgical therapy offers a curative approach for liver tumors of various origins where the future liver remnant (FLR) would be insufficient after a one-staged (extended) hemihepatectomy.

Rationale: Primary hepatic neuroendocrine tumors (PHNETs) are extremely rare and are difficult to diagnose preoperatively. We report a case of PHNET diagnosed preoperatively and successfully resected using associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS).
Patient Concerns: A 72-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital for a hepatic mass, which was incidentally identified during a routine health checkup.

Introduction: ALPPS (Associating Liver Partition and Portal vein Ligation for Staged hepatectomy) is a new two-stage hepatectomy for patients in whom conventional treatment is not feasible due to insufficient future liver remnant (FLR). During stage one of ALPPS, accelerated growth of the FLR is induced by ligation of the portal vein and in situ split of the liver, which prevents interlobar collateral portal circulation and attributes to the accelerated hypertrophy response. This can present a risk for postoperative haemorrhage.
